"The New Civilization || - Rites of Love" compares today’s attitudes toward sex, childbirth, family and education with those of our forebears. Their depth of understanding may cause you to wonder when and how we lost this extraordinary knowledge. Anastasia assures us that it can be regained. Through the fascinating life-story of one family, Megre portrays the radiant world of the ancient Russian Vedic civilization, documents the drama of its destruction and then reveals its rebirth—millennia later—in our present time.

About the Author Vladimir Nikolaevich Megre (born 23 July, 1950 in Kuznichi village, Gorodnyansky District, Chernigov Region in Ukraine), the author of The Ringing Cedars of Russia book series, was a well-known entrepreneur. He spent most of his childhood with his grandmother Efrosinia Verkhusha, a village healer. As a teenager Vladimir occasionally visited Father Feodorit, a priest of the Trinity-Sergiyev Monastery. Later he was shown there the picture «The One and Only» which he described in his second book before the picture was revealed to the world. Vladimir started an independent life early and left the parents' house at the age of 16. Since 1974 he lived in Novosibirsk and worked as a photographer with Novosibirskoblfoto, a service company. At the beginning of Perestroika (reforms of the late 1980s) he was the president of the Inter-Regional Association of Siberian Entrepreneurs. In 1994-5 he organized two large-scale trade expeditions with a fleet of river steamers along the River Ob along the route Novosibirsk -- Salekhard -- Novosibirsk at his own expense. On this trip, an encounter with Anastasia in the Siberian taiga changed his entire life. It had been a secret for a long time for relatives and friends what made him, an entrepreneur with ten years experience, to pledge his property and spend his savings on unprofitable trading trips. The mystery was revealed in his books with Anastasia as the main character. Vladimir Megre brought something really invaluable from the trips. Throughout 1996-2006 nine books were written by Vladimir Megre (The Ringing Cedars of Russia Series: Anastasia, The Ringing Cedars of Russia, The Space of Love, Co-Creation, Who Are We?, Book of Kin, The Energy of Life, The New Civilization, Rites of Love). In 2011 the author became Laureate of Gusi Peace Prize.

By blue firestar agate Having read most of the other books in the series I have to say this book was the "tipping point" as far as the series believably goes. Could not buy into the 1,000 year sleep and the 999,000 years of being so called awake mentioned in the book especially being tied to the year 2000. Humans have long had a track record of destroying natural habitats long before the last 1,000 years. And the premise that nature is here for our bidding is plain silly and ridiculous. The term Vedruss used in the book for a combination of Vedic and Russian seemed to be a pretty juvenile literary device to me. The Vedic civilization was in India not the former Soviet Union. Not exactly imaginative here is it?Sad to say I have to believe now the entire series is totally fiction and not based on any natural or scientific facts. However for a positive note the books in the series get an A for Pseudoscience and "New Age" psychobabble!

Kindle version vs Print By Amazon Customer I bought this book on Kindle to avoid shipping costs - mission accomplished...but I have mixed feelings. On the whole I find the series to be amazing! Its easy to take inspiring ideas from the book and quickly put them to use in your life.Yet, I think the print version seems better for some reason? I see they're using a new translator now, so maybe it all comes down to that rather than print vs ebook.I've ordered the 2nd edition of the books (black covers w/ flowers) to read and compare. I loved the detailed translations I read in the 2nd edition. It seemed like the previous translator, Leonid Sharashkin, really put a lot of energy into making a quality translation with explanations (footnotes galore!). I devour details and background information is often critical to get the whole picture (culture).I'll probably study and compare the books for a while as the information sinks in. But meanwhile I'll read the Kindle version of Anasta (the next book in the series) which is now available and calling my name...

No idea if these are true accounts in this (these) book(s), but they bring about wonderful feelings nonetheless. I highly recommend to someone with an open mind and an open heart. Enjoy!
