About the Author SIMON GERVAIS was born in Montréal, Québec. He joined the Canadian military as an infantry officer and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1997. Assigned to the Infantry School in Gagetown, New Brunswick, he received extensive training in advanced reconnaissance and small-unit tactics. In 2001, he became a federal agent. His first posting was in Toronto, where he served as a drug investigator. During this time, he worked on many international drug-related cases in close collaboration with his American colleagues from the DEA. However, in 2004, his career switched gears and he was placed with a federal anti-terrorism unit based in the Ottawa Region. During the following years, he was deployed in numerous European and Middle Eastern countries. In 2009, he became a close-protection specialist tasked with guarding foreign heads of state visiting Canada. Among many others, he served on the protection details of Queen Elizabeth II, US President Barack Obama, and Chinese President, Hu Jianto. In 2012, Simon was transferred to his organization’s counter-surveillance unit. During the next two years, he participated in a number of intelligence gathering operations. In May 2014, he returned to his former unit to serve as a bodyguard for the American ambassador to Canada until his retirement in September 2014. Simon is now a full-time writer and a member of the International Thriller Writers. Simon, his wife, and their two children divide their time between Ottawa and South Florida, which they consider their second home.

By Judi exclusiverob Wilo This is a very fast paced, breath holding and edge of the seat thriller. The story started right in with a terrifying opening that I don’t think I will ever forget. Words really don't convey the realism and believability of this work of Simon Gervais. The author's experience in law enforcement and the military provided realistic military, weaponry, covert operations, and foreign scene details that make the story believable.In my opinion Mr. Gervais is one of the most exciting new writer. A wonderful new author who may just be a Vince Flynn rival. I'm so looking forward to Book 2 for some unanswered questions and ready to find out what Mike and Lisa and the IMSI are up against next. Well done Simon!!!

Mclaurin Mike Walton, a federal air marshal and Lisa, a doctor and his wife, give up their former identities and any semblance of a "normal" life to fight terrorists who have destroyed their family and hundreds of other innocent citizens in terrorist attacks. Terrorist plots and action take place in Ottawa, New York, cities in France, Sierra Leone among other places, as the Waltons and their team members attempt unravel the conspiracies, to track down the terrorists and to prevent their devastating attacks.The Thin Black Line is suspenseful and kept me wondering how it would conclude. (Could there be a happy ending?) I wondered if i could "trust" some of the characters-- if they were who they presented themselves to be. The author's experience in law enforcement and the military provided realistic military, weaponry, covert operations, and foreign scene details that make the story believable and take the reader to scenes of the action. I'm looking forward to "book 2" and ready to find out what happens next.

With the very first words, I was hooked and locked in for a hair raising ride with this book.Everything I imagine our scary world to be was emmulated in this story of terrorism and heroism. Characters were well developed and fleshed out. The plot flowed smoothly to a satisfying conclusion. I desperately want to read more about Mike and Lisa Walton's journey into saving our world.This is a very fast paced, breath holding and hair raising thriller. Words really don't convey the realism and believability of this work of art, rather Simon Gervais. I found it to be intriguing and can't wait for more from this exciting new author!

The story was well written and a real page Turner. Once I started reading couldn't seem to stop. Every chapter read lead to the next to in anticipation of the outcome. Kudos Mr. Black. You managed to take the reader to the brink of insanity and snatch them back before it's too late. Looking forward to you next book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The plot is very well constructed, every single page making you read one more and one more and one more. The twists and turns are so unexpected that each chapter turns you into a detective, trying to figure out what happened. It's a perfect combination between mystery, psychological thriller and the supernatural genre. Younger kids will love this coloring book, maybe 7-14 years, but of course fun loving adults can join in on the creativity also. This spiral bound book has images by the author from her other books included into one volume. All are positive upbeat images and messages like peace and love, slightly updated 60's beat to those images.The particulars colorists might be looking for:~ generous 96 pages on 8.5"x11" pages~ no repeats within this book, but perhaps a volume collection of other books~ 5 pages of coloring tips, including color wheel descriptions~ 5 pages of sampled colorings, including color suggestion drops~ color with gel markers, crayons, alcohol or water based markers, some bleed through with alcohol markers~ each page is dedicated to one design, with inspirational sayings on the back~ excellent paper quality~ blank lines under the sayings to add your own reflective thoughts~ designs are not too detailed and leave room for our own embellishments if we so choose~ spiral bound so will lay flat for coloring~ pages are perforated for easy removal and sharing around the coloring tableGreat beefy book to share and create our own colorings.My favorite saying in the book is: "Creativity is intelligence having fun ~ Albert Einstein." I nice spiral bound edition of a nice mix of her designs and quotes from all of her coloring books, this is actually my only complaint as there are a lot of repeat designs from her other, books. If you are a collector of Thaneeya's books as I am (They Make Me feel happy), you may have a lot of double images. One of the reasons I enjoy her books so much is that they appeal to an audience of all ages, so coloring with my nieces and nephews is made easy. I like this book as well as her "Don't Worry Be Happy" book because they are spiral bound so will lay flat to color. The pages are perforated and the paper is of good quality and treated so that most wet medias will not bleed through~!** One sided pages of course with a lovely little tid bit quote on the back of all the pages, another reason i enjoy her books, always so positive, and the coloring bodes well for those of us that enjoy blending or using intense color~~!!*8 All & all I happy that I purchased this book~~!!**

Lots to color and the pics always turn out nice. This is a beautiful spiral bound book. It lays nice and flat while coloring. Pictures are printed on nice paper with a message on the reverse side, along with some lines if you choose to write or journal anything. Images are varied, meaning there is a nice selection of pictures where there is a written message and a nice selection of just plain pictures. I believe there are 100 or so pages in this book. Great price too!

I blew through this one in two sittings because every story was better than be last. I just finished reading Richard Lange's Sweet Nothing and if you like that book I highly recommend Death Don't Have No Mercy. It's almost like an east coast companion read. Here Comes The Bells is definitely one of the best stories I have read this year, it will likely be a contender in my favorite story suggestions for a long time to come as well. I am a fan of Boyle's for sure now. I he has more books coming out soon! What can I say about Broken River Books that I haven't already said. Greatness.

I will never walk past a guy from the neighborhood and not wonder what lies beneath. Boyle pulls back the curtain and the old haunts are never the same.

The characters are all so well developed that you will continue to think about them long after you finish each story. He creates worlds for these characters to live in that you will love and will re-visit. Albeit a world full of people receiving the wages of sin. Stick this book in your back pocket, head to the nearest hole in the wall, and chase it with whiskey. Damn good book.

The O-M-G- was uttered in a high-pitched squee-ish voice.) when I pulled this oh-so-cute coloring book out of its envelope! I was not expecting this so it was a most wonderful surprise!Look at all the cuteness! Look at all the smiles on nearly everything!It was hard to decide what to color first, but I picked two pages out (see completed coloring pictures below) and they were so fun to color! With the abundance of cuteness and smiles everywhere, you can’t help but smile and feel cheery while you color! (As a side note, out of the over 120 coloring designs in this book, 20 have black backgrounds.)My only quibble for I Heart Cute Coloring (and this is why I gave it 4-stars instead of 5-stars) is in regards to the book’s design and book gutter — the book gutter is a term that refers to the inside margins on the bound edge of the book. When a coloring image spans two pages (a double-page spread), I always expect some of the design to get a bit lost in the gutter and be too tricky to color. However, in I Heart Cute Coloring, some coloring motifs on just a single page are slipping into the gutter and are tricky to color. I do wish that the book was just a tiny bit wider — this would create additional white space by the gutter and allow for certain design motifs to be easily colored. My gutter quibble is for the USA edition — I am not sure if the UK edition released by Buster Books has a different book design.ANYWAY. Quibble aside, I adore I Heart Cute Coloring! While it does seem to be a coloring book for a younger audience — the Penguin Younger Readers Group is mentioned on the copyright page — I think adult coloring enthusiasts who ♥ all things cute and/or are very much in touch with their inner child will really enjoy this cute and fun coloring book — I sure did!Disclosure: I received a complimentary review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. My Little Daughter Loves This Cute, Pocket Coloring Book,, By Robin Lee I love this Pocket "I Heart Cute" Coloring book on the go........The designs in here are just adorable and fun.........I can take it with me anywhere I want too.........This cute for children also, especially that summertime is coming and vacation..........My little daughter also, loved all the tiny, doodle creatures and silly designs in this book,,,,,,,...I have been coloring for three years now...... It's my way of relaxing and some quite time........Great way to meditate and be stress free.....Plus, coloring is being used as a therapy now for children with special needs......Helps them focus and keep calm....Much like music therapy.........I counted almost , or at least 128 pages of hand drawn designs by artist, Jess Bradley.......The books size is 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches........The designs range from simplistic to very detailed areas to color ......Not one design is the same, some even are on complete Black backgrounds ,so you can play around with Neon Colors.......They are printed on both sides of the page.....On bright , white, thicker than usual paper.......I am saying this because my daughter used you Neon Sharpies and Regular Markers to color in this book........No bleed thru or shadow on the other side......I was really surprised..........I have pictures to show you......Believe me you will get plenty of coloring time out of this small book.......My little daughter just throws it in her Backpack and out the door we go..........She is very happy :)

By Amazon Customer I have been searching for a long time for an adult coloring book that gives me exactly what this one does. The whimsical designs are perfect for when you need a break from the intricate detailed books that are out there. One of the things that is great about the book is that it has a combination of black and white backgrounds. The pictures are printed on both sides on good quality paper. I've been using gel pens with no bleed through so far. This has to be hands down my favorite coloring book I own, highly recommended for coloring addicts!!

He is again in Dutch with his boss and pressured to get more news stories on his crime beat. Sister Anne, a much loved nun is brutally murdered by a knife-wielding assailant and the city is in an uproar. He scoops the other newspapers when he reports the bloody knife found outside Sister Anne's apartment, but his boss still is riding him for more. It turns out that his father and a widow with a young son are eventually involved in the story. Jason's relationship with a female detective on the Seattle Police force is also brittle and falling apart. The author skillfully weaves all these story elements into a great story that keeps you guessing right up to the final chapter.Also recommended: Any other thriller by Rick Mofina. ISBN 13:978-0-7860-1848-2,PC 362 pgs., 6 3/4" x 4 1/8".Journalist and Author Rick Mofina, having more than titles under his belt, is an accomplished fiction writer who provides excellent character developments, and an intertwined plot which manages to admirably remain unpredictable until the very end. "A Perfect Grace" makes for a good read, re-introducing us to Reporter Jason Wade, now the third in a series featuring an upbeat protagonist newswpaper crime reporter. In this thriller, Jason finds himself in conflicts with his father, previously a policeman and a woman detective for whom there exists a somewhat more than platonic relationship: in the end, their mind-sets find harmony. The title is most interesting, but we only discover its meaning at the "end of the chase". We may speculate, after this read, that there are a lot of unknowns in people about us, secreted desires, fears, love, greed and sometimes an apparent need to seek refuge or solace in the "bottle".

The homeless adore her for her non-judgmental attitude and the community as a whole believes she is a truly good and moral person. It comes as a shock when this good person is killed in her home by a man who knows her and wants something he believes she has.Seattle Mirror reporter Jason Wade scoops all the other news people when he reports on the weapon, a knife stolen from the soup kitchen where Sister Anne worked. Slowly he gathers information from a variety of sources that a strange man in the soup kitchen talked with Sister Anne who tried to minister to him and he made her sad. What Jason doesn't know is that his father is connected to this case by the incident that made him quit SPD or that an innocent child with a brain tumor in need of surgery will be kidnapped by this killer in order to get what he wants from the child's mother. The reporter remains clueless and time is running out for an innocent child.Thriller writers like Rick Mofina make the genre something special. Jason goes from being a disgraced journalist to the man who keeps getting the inside breaking story. It is hard to accept anyone killing a nun who everyone believes is a saint but as Jason finds out, there is no evidence of her existence prior to her entering the order. The answer to the mystery lies in the nun's past and Jason, a strong, kind yet vulnerable tough guy doesn't even know where to start looking.Harriet Klausner

Every page, every word makes you thirsty for more. His writing is gritty, graphic and totally satisfying. It's the story that riles you up and Bob never lets you down! His storytelling ability keeps you turning the pages until the very end where a reader gives out the big huff of breath, shakes their head and just feels like WOW! I want more! Loved it!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fatal Beauty Fatally Flawed By Julie G I find Fatal Beauty to be fatally flawed. It is full of Hartson's quick-witted, "off the top of his head" thinking, and shows great promise to be a good, racy, intriguing novel, but even racy needs to be subtle and warm sometimes. This inept book publisher let him down in every way. Doesn't anyone check manuscripts anymore? Is this publisher, Black Rose Publishing, not able to provide a good editor to stand by and help those it publishes? If they think they helped this book at all, I fail to see where. I would never recommend them if this is an example of what they offer. This book showed the clear absence of strong, professional editing, which would have made it a more satisfying read. Graphic gore and sex does not a good story make when that is all you get. So many typos! Words that didn't belong, lines that ended before reaching the right margin and finished on the next line for no reason . . . and oh, the barrage of metaphor! Just too much and became boring after awhile and diminishes what the novel could be. I really found no way to sympathize with the characters, they all seemed like actors in a poorly written, overacted drama and, while they all could use profanity in abundance, all seemed to thrive on graphic sexual episodes, I never found the essence of the characters. That which made them REAL, made me love them, hate, sympathize or even be filled with fear of them. I never saw or felt the broken heart of Betty regarding her sister for instance, or her supposed anguish. Nothing seemed real or dragged me into the plot. I truly had great expectations regarding this book when I heard it was coming out, but I must be honest if I am anything at all. This author is vastly more talented and artful than this book indicates. When he gives us something new, be sure to check it out. I will bet he returns to his real talent-- which is great story telling and, let's hope he finds an honest, editor not afraid to scold and demand he write as he is gifted to do.

I read a great deal but this book stands out with vivid scene and character descriptions. Fatal Beauty is a wonderful blend of suspense, powerful romantic interludes and very humorous and clever analogies throughout.

61 of 65 people found the following review helpful. Same Old Wyman... And That's A Problem By D. Kittrell This is nominally the fourth Wyman Ford book. He's a great character: ex-CIA, ex-Christian monk, high-end private investigator. But he's stuck in a rut and seems to have memory problems. Other than some incidental character overlaps, the Wyman Ford books all tell a similar story. High tech intrigue (even alien invasion of a sort), two different kinds of strong AI threats that devolve into mystical endings (well, maybe only one but strong hints at two), a smart techie woman in a bad situation. And our Mr. Ford never even so much as says "you know, this is like another case I had...". It's getting to be a problem for the series. I know Douglas Preston is a better writer than this current book shows -- even the earlier Ford stories showed that, not to mention his wonderful work on the Pendergast series. But he needs to improve the continuity of the Wyman Ford books and get the man involved in actually solving problems not just along for the ride. Sorry, this one let me down. It has a potboiler vibe and Preston shouldn't need money bad enough to let this get out without a better story behind it.

So I asked for and received this as a birthday gift on the first day it was released. I read it over two days. Parts of it I liked, like the beginning with the plot setup. The overall concept was very good (what happens when an autonomous AI program escapes control of its programmers) but the details were at times hard to believe, such as the AI's character transformation and the source of that change. Adding to that was one of the main character's (a 12 years boy) constant complaining about his ruined life. Ok, he is a depressed lonely kid who experienced a tragic accident. Maybe that behavior would be realistic, but I just found it annoying. It seemed like the author was going for the YA audience. The result of his tragic accident also made the action sequence at the end of the book hard to believe. On a positive note, the build up of suspense toward the end of the book was very well done, even if I didn't care for the character. I fond several of his earlier novels to be better.

Schumacher I have always looked forward to new books from Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, but this one left me feeling like I had been hit in the face with a dead fish.The plot was nothing original... an Artificial Intelligence program escapes and the chase is on to prevent it from wiping out mankind. There characters seemed more like caricatures. I liked the character of the programmer who wrote the program, but she wasn't developed nearly enough.But the main problem with this book is that the author clearly does not have a good enough understanding of technology to write a believable story that is so solidly based in that technology. I lost it when one character pointed out that an iPad has enough computing power to simulate the human brain. REALLY? Why aren't iPads running the world already? Or maybe they are... that might explain a lot...Okay, I'm a software developer, so when I read a book or see a movie where computer technology is a key component, it sometimes ending up being a comedy when it wasn't intended to. And my wife rolls her eyes when I start shouting at the TV when the characters on cop shows start spouting tech gibberish. But this book went so far beyond credibility that I almost stopped reading, which I hardly ever do. As it is, I found myself skimming though pages, wihich I also very seldom do.And it's not that the technology is so blatantly stretched to the breaking point, but that the AI character consistently does things that it is not supposed to be able to do based on previous statements in the book itself. I can't go into details without revealing to much of the plot.The level of writing was also far below what I've come to expect from Preston. If it weren't for the graphic violence in the book, I would have through this was a Young Adult novel.This book was a major disappointment. I hope it's an aberration and that Preston gets back on track soon.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Very enjoyable By M. Smith Someone is murdering Colonel Mauleverer's five sons, one per month on the 30th. In each case a noose is found on or near the body. A private detective is hired to protect the one remaining son and to find the murderer. Circumstantial, but convincing, evidence points to the arrest of a young woman. Her lawyer believes her to be innocent, and realizes the only way to clear his client of murder is to find the real murderer. Oddly, the lawyer teams up with the same detective who had had his client arrested in the first place! Together they are something like two halves of Sherlock Holmes - one good at discovering clues, the other capable of making intuitive leaps based on the clues. My only reservation about the book is that the murderer turns out to be someone who only comes into the story near the end and could not have been guessed by the reader. But, the murderer's motive is very satisfying. This book comes before "The Dangerville Inheritance" by the same author and involves some of the same charactors.

You need the patience of Jobe to read this story and all the crazy details in it not once but twice. The plot would have been great if the whole of it were not so laborious to read. This book is entirely about the details of finally getting to the truth!!!Very laboriously written. Took all the pleasure out of it for me.

BONES- GRAVE ROBBING- ALL WEDDINGS HAVE SOME PROBLEM By Ellen Hardin every few months i am waiting for KJ Emrick to publish another darcy sweet mystery - to catch up up - darcy is a bookstore owner who can see and communicate with ghosts- and solves murder mysteries with the help of her deceased great aunt millie , her slightly psychic cat smudge and her boyfriend now fiance jon who is a cop --- and now book 18 "Till death do us part" is out----- so darcy and jon are getting ready for their upcoming wedding- when boxes of bones are discovered in a garage outside of misty hollow-- so she will just be doing prewedding things right? wrong-- seems some of the bones were of residents of misty hollow and when jon is called in it is discovered someone has also been digging up graves -- soon darcy is consulting again on the case - will she figure out what someone is looking for? who the woman in the hat is- why is great aunt millie mad at smudge- will they get to have their wedding? -- once again i enjoyed this cozy romantic with a touch of magic series- and am waiting for the next one --so if you are looking for a quick light read with a few unexpected twists and turns this could be the book for you - but warning - you could get hooked on this series- BOOK 1 "Death comes to town - is still FREE on kindle ---

Darcy and Jon have their hands full with this mystery as they are also preparing for their upcoming nuptials. A good read with just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. I couldn't put it down, and was actually thrilled that it was finally released (having pre-purchased it), so when it downloaded, I just HAD to put aside everything else I was reading to get to this one! Glad I did, but now I have to wait for the author to write the next one... Please hurry K.J.!

McCort Darcy and Jon should only be thinking of their upcoming wedding, but would you expect anything less than when a box of old bones are discovered and empty graves in the historical grave yard.While Darcy and Jon search for clues to the removal of the bones, Smudge plays an important part of the story once again.I thank Amazon and Kindle for introducing me to stories like Darcy Sweet, I really love stories that continue. I also love that author K. J. Emerick leaves the reading wanting more.

So many stories share their version of persistence, hope and just Thinking Possible in this new edition of Chicken Soup.Steven Alexander's Mantra of "Kidney Tomorrow" is a magnificent example of how our thoughts and focus nourish and create our realities. I am gifting this book to my friend Sage who desperately needs a kidney There are other wonderful stories. My story, "WELCOME HOME" is about persistence, loss, & thinking possible to create a welcome home for life after the loss of my baby. I hope other mothers and fathers who suffer this loss will find hope and possibility.

It inspires and lifts up, it gives hope and courage and makes me want to try new things. The stories never fail to make me feel something and put a smile on my face that lasts all day. My advice is to take it slowly. One or two stories a day to make it last.

Police advice: Back off and let us do the investigating By Hazel Hart Landlady Beth Stockwell isn't taking that advice because she knows the police aren't investigating. They've been ordered off the case by someone high up in city government. The explanation: There are more pressing cases that require police attention. It is an explanation Beth Stockwell cannot accept. If the police won't find the killer, she will, but first she must learn the identity of the victim.In this second cozy mystery by author, Joyce Ann Brown, landlady Beth Stockwell and husband Arnie are called back from their Arizona vacation by son Clay. Psycho Cat has involved the family in yet another mystery, this time by leading Clay and his wife to a mummified body in a trunk in one of the Stockwell's duplexes.Having owned the duplexes for almost thirty years, Beth and Arnie can't imagine how or when the body, so decomposed the gender of the victim is unrecognizable, was deposited in the trunk. They return to Kansas City to be interviewed by police and turn over twenty-five years of requested rental records. The police investigation is well underway when it ends abruptly. With the help of Psycho Cat, Beth uncovers clues that narrow the time span, allowing a list of possible suspects and victims to emerge. This is a classic "whodunit" with a twist of "who was it done to." I would like to have seen just a bit more of the cat being "psycho," but the twists and turns of the plot kept me turning pages in this fun read for mystery lovers.

By Susan Ramirez It is thrilling to see the author's growth in plot development and story telling from her first novel, Catastrophic Connections, to her second novel, Furtive Investigation. Her themes are entertaining and offensive to no one. They include a good understanding of many cross sections of society(police work and forensics, drug dealing, family relationships) which lend a credibility to what she writes. Her character conversations are believable and well written. The plot outline of moving back and forth between events that took place seven years apart is appealing and heightens the suspense in this who-done-it.. My library will continue to have novels written by Joyce Ann Brown added to it. FUR is definitely a five-star book.

By Kristen Elise It has been ages since I've read a cozy mystery, and I'm so glad that I picked FURtive Investigation as the one to read. What a delightful story--it's everything you want a cozy mystery to be. It's full of twists and turns, complicated characters, and ... at the center of it all, the feline version of Sherlock Holmes. Specific things I loved about this book:1) The use of Psycho Cat's animal instincts to bring a new dimension to the investigation. He hints at things without being able to open his mouth and say them, which of course, is maddening. In a good way.2) The use of a duplex as the scene of the crime. Two households living in too-close-for-comfort proximity, but with just enough separation between them to add mystery between one set of neighbors and the other. And, with another important neighbor in the back, a few different perspectives.3) The classic whodunnit style reminiscent of Agatha Christie. As the investigation goes on, characters are gradually ruled out as either killer, victim, or both, until there is only one possibility left.All in all, a great book. I can't wait to go back and read Catastrophic Connections.
