A twenty-two year old gets captured because of a mistake on the part of his boyfriend. In captivity he meets a man named Mikhail who does nothing but torture him. And yet as time passes and the captive/prisoner game goes on, a Stockholm syndrome type relationship begins to form. But is Mikhail as ‘bonded’ with his captive as he says he is? Or is this a ruse to further torment him? Book One: Ty and ‘Angel’ are having a rough time of it. Even though they love each other, it’s obvious Ty has a connection with his past life of being a contract killer and it’s hard for him to let go of the violence. In order to make Mason (Angel) feel safe, Ty tries everything in his power, including fabricating stories to make it seem like everything is fine, even when things are not even close to being ‘fine.’ His tendency to keep Mason in a happy and ‘safe’ frame of mind is a losing game and when Ty ends up killing the son of a mob boss by mistake, Mason too will have to pay for it.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. a dark erotica, captive/rape/torture style fiction series By Sinfully Angel #1 is the start of a dark erotica, captive/rape/torture style fiction series, that if you're willing to go places outside of your comfort zone looks like it's going to be a pretty compelling read. The story opens with former rich kid Mason Bryant receiving a phone call about the death of his estranged father, a cold hearted man who rejected him for being gay and in a relationship with an older man, his partner Ty, whose lifestyle is worlds apart from the Ivy League existence Mason has grown up in.In a funk he goes into a bar to drown his sorrows. Realising later he's drunk too much to drive himself home, he goes back to his car to get his phone but is attacked by a guy with a gun, who threatens to kill him. He's convinced he's going to die as the gunman is obviously high and out of control of his senses, but at the last minute he backs off, steals the car with Masons phone still inside it leaving Mason stranded, shaken to the core but alive. What results from that one insensitive, act of violence has far reaching, consequences for everyone involved...especially Mason, who ends up paying a terrible price for Ty's act of revenge on the man responsible for his lovers frightening ordeal. There's no getting past the fact that this is not going to be for the faint hearted. It deals with a dark, depraved subject matter and contains triggers that might distress some readers. Apart from Mason, there are no nice guys here. Ty might be the 'hero' of the story, if you want to assign somebody the title, but in a way he's just as homicidal as the bad guys. Morally, his one saving grace is that he's trying to go straight for Mason, who hates his contract killer past and the criminal world he's still mixed up in but anti hero or not, there’s definitely something about Ty that draws you in.Ms Khan’s writing style is good and the start of the book grabbed my attention straight away; once I started reading I didn't want to put it down. As I got further in and learned more about Ty's personality and his 'career', which itself has strong criminal elements; what he did to protect and avenge the man he loves came as no surprise. His world, and most of the people in it, revolves around violence so it was no surprise that his reaction was 'act first, think later' and it's this that backfires big time when he realises that he's messed with the wrong people! We're talking Russian mob people…and we all know what that means! **Shivers**Overall I liked what Cyma brought to the table, but unfortunately there were some things that didn't quite work for me. Surprisingly, there are no graphic love scenes between Ty and Mason, so even though it's patently obvious they're in love; not witnessing their physical passion and intimacy affected my own emotional connection to the relationship, which in turn skewed my view on certain aspects of them as a couple. When the fallout happened I never really felt the full intensity of Ty's desolation and pain at having his lover snatched, under such horrific circumstances, that I felt I should have…a by-product, I think, of not feeling the intimacy between them as strongly as I would have liked.Apart from Ty cold bloodily killing the perpetrator— a really great scene—and the shocking contents of a video he watches, nothing particularly hard core is depicted until Mason is taken at around 77%. Then when it really kicks off, not all, but most of his traumatic, horrific experiences are told, more than shown. At times given to us in an off page type of way, which would probably suit some readers but I was a bit disappointed. I'm not saying I want non stop, in your face depravity—that would just be overkill—but if I'm taking a journey into depraved waters I want to be kept on the edge of my seat, anticipating the worst; and when the worst happens I want the emotional onslaught and tummy churns that come with it, I realised the horror of Masons predicament but at this point, I didn’t feel it it was quite there yet. Also, I felt the last 20% or so of the story did lose its flow slightly; becoming a little choppy, because of big time jumps that go over weeks, so again not ‘seeing’ what was happening during that time tended to lessen the horror. But….Having said all that, you have to take on board that the majority of Angel #1 is actually the scene setting episode; building the story up to the darker, more disturbing stuff that Cyma promises to bring us in future installments, which still intrigues me; so despite my odd reservations I ended this one wanting to jump into book two, as it ended on a very strong 'to be continued' vibe that once again got my perverted juices flowing. So watch this space but be warned. Things could definitely be getting squickier and the anticipation of that is calling to the twisted puppy side of me! Bring on the tummy churns!

I couldn't finish the book out of boredom. On the good side it is well written. When a author uses a characters name that is already used in another ebook and is popular I think it takes away from the story.

But I feel like the author gave us far more detail and back history with ty and mason and rushed through the weeks of masons kidnapping. We would've benefited from seeing his struggle and terror, but hearing it from ty,s viewpoint did nothing for me.story has loads of potential.
