About the Author Just like Bob Farrell, the main character in WOUNDED PREY, Sean Lynch is a real life recently-retired cop. He was born and raised in Iowa and migrated to Northern California's San Francisco Bay Area, where he served for nearly three decades as a municipal police officer. During his Law Enforcement career, Sean served as a Sector Patrol Officer, Foot Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Field Training Officer, S.W.A.T. Team Officer, Firearms Instructor, S.W.A.T. The next day I found myself taking long breaks and an extended lunch as I tried to fit in "just one more chapter." I was done by dinner.Could. Not. Put. It. Down.Tight, Dark, Authentic and Very Well-WrittenSean Lynch delivers with a terrifying plausibility that rattles me in places I didn't know I had.Vern Slocum is evil. He is evil personified. The author is a grab you by the throat and keep you interested story teller. It's the type of book you can't put down you're so intrigued to learn what happens next. We need more from Sean Lynch. An excellent book by an author who knows his stuff.

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A Promising New Series By William P. Dillon I was given a copy of Wounded Prey from Net Galley in return for an honest review. Wounded Prey opens in 1987 with a brazen child abduction from a school field trip. Iowa Deputy Kevin Kearns is out on his morning run and witnesses the attack. Kearns intervenes, but is unable to prevent the kidnapper from making off with the child, murdering an elderly teacher and putting Kearns in the hospital in the process.Across the country, in San Francisco, retired cop Bob Farrell reads of the crimes in his newspaper. He immediately recognizes the M.O. of a former Marine who had done the exact same thing numerous times in Vietnam. He arrested him then and trusted the system to take him out of society. He has regretted his actions ever since. He sets off in pursuit to finally put things right.The villain, Vernon Slocum, is the most terrifying sociopath since Hannibal Lecter. He is truly reprehensible. Farrell and Kearns form an unlikely partnership to bring down Slocum. The only weakness in Lynch's novel is in his portrayal of the FBI as a bunch of buffoons. Had he made them not so laughingly inept, it would have strengthened an already powerful novel. I would have rated Wounded Prey four-and-a-half stars if I could. I am glad that I have been able to discover Sean Lynch and he is now on my must-read list. Well done, Mr. Lynch. I am now a fan!

Lots of sticker coloring fun – fast and easy to color By iiiireader [[VIDEOID:f044c001dba5af968f20d52f90997109]]I have purchased a number of coloring books by artist Thaneeya McArdle and have been enjoying all of them. When I saw that she had a peel and stick coloring sticker book, I thought I would try it out. It turns out to be a lot of fun. I like to reward my grandchildren with a sticker at the end of the day when they spend time with me and it means so much more when it is a sticker that I have colored myself.In addition to simply coloring and using my stickers as rewards, the book has great suggestions as to various crafts and ways that you can use the stickers once you have finished. I am going to use some of those ideas to personalize a few of my gifts this holiday season.There are ten pages of stickers and as the backside is left blank, you can use whatever type of coloring medium you choose with these. I've tried gel pens (including metallics and glitter pens), various water and alcohol-based markers (my sharpie ultra-fine worked great on these!), coloring pencils and even some of my new watercolors. They all work great and I have had no problems with the paper curling, even with the watercolors. Of course, you should wait for the sticker to try before removing it.While I like all of the designs, the ones that are the most fun for me are the eyeglasses, bow ties, hats, and mustaches. I usually don't have many coloring designs that can be used in gifts for the men in my family but I think these will fit the bill wonderfully. They have an old-fashioned vibe to them which is so popular right now.The designs include: flowers and butterflies, birds and bird embellished gift cards, eyeglasses, hats, bow ties, and fun gift cards to match, mandalas, butterflies and hearts, flowers, and paisleys, mustaches and some more gift cards, leaves, and finally, lovely chrysanthemum style flowers and more gift cards.This was certainly a new type of coloring for me but one that I think I will want to try again in the future. These are very quick to color and then give or use. Most of the pictures that I color take a minimum of a day and sometimes a week, so a project that can be done in a few minutes to an hour is a welcome addition.

I actually bought this with the intent of giving it to my 12 year old daughter, but I just had to try it out. I guess we'll have to share it. This lovely book includes colored pages at the beginning with tips and tricks for using the book, coloring tips, and crafting tips (see my photos). In the back, it has colored pages with an Idea Gallery on things to do with the stickers--very cool.The paper is very nice quality! I accidentally grabbed a watercolor pencil instead of a regular colored pencil, so I decided to add water and see if it could take it! And it worked very well (probably the adhesive kept it from curling). I also glitter with a clear glitter gel pen. The paper is bright white and smooth. There are 10 full pages of stickers that include:-Flowers-Birds-To:/From: stickers-Glasses, hats, bow ties-Small mandalas-Full page of butterflies-Mustaches-Full page of leaves-and more flowers!Overall, I think this is a great idea and young and old will enjoy coloring the designs and using them in various crafts!

Tay~~!!** Coloring & Stickers~~!!** By Cynthia Stough Cute little book with 130 stickers of different shapes and sizes as well as a nice little coloring tip page and a 3 page idea gallery as well~~!! There are cupcake toppers, some mustaches and the typical whimsical Thaneeya designs. I bought this with my planner in mind, but most of them wouldn't really work well for that. i will enjoy this book regardless as my niece is a sticker nut, and how fun on a rainy day to color stickers and then do a project with them. I paid just over ten dollars for this book and feel the price point is a little high for what you get...Regardless, I will enjoy this book very much~~!!

Sometimes a person that you meet can change your life. And it's been exactly so for me. I discovered a new world. A Zen master of music and creativity.The workshop i attended with him, it was mind changing. Jon Damian has the precious gift to catch your attention on a "brain" level and to stimulate the growing of your "soul" level too. He really changed my hearing and playing!Together with the man (a really down to earth, kind, clever, immaginative, great musician, guitarist and stimulating teacher), i discovered also his books, that are not less interesting, on both levels.For a serious musical student (music it's a sweet curse that last for life i suppose), he can't make without his last book. The two other ones before (The Guitarist's Guide to Composing and Improvising, The Chord Factory) they were already a compendium of knowledge and a great work about exposing in a clear way also the complex arguments. And they were funny too.The last one, Fresh Music, it reachs another level of greatness. You can immerse yourself in the Creative Workshop Ensemble that Jon Damian is coordinating since almost 40 years. You can actively partecipate with the group, learn new way to see the old things and absolutely stimulate your creativity in general. Jon's brilliant and intensely creative mind have illuminated many pathways towards helping me find my "voice" on the guitar. Jon is not only a master at conveying his ideas in our personal lessons, but has taken the time to sculpt 3 incredibly powerful books, which are tomes of infinite creative possibility and insight.Fresh Music transcends any one form of art and incorporates all forms of art (poetry, dance, fine art, nature, etc.) with music. Fresh Music presents a huge variety of creative ideas for composition and improvisation and encourages the reader to try his/her own ideas. About the Author Caroline Dunford has previously worked as a psychotherapist, a journalist and a non-fiction author. She has a deep love of story, which she believes is at the heart of human nature. She first declared, at five years old, that she wanted to be a writer but was told there was little options of it being a full time job. Undeterred, she started writing short stories, plays and mini novels. She became known for writing plays at primary school including casting and directing the performances. She then grew up and went to university, studied sensible subjects and decided she didn't like the 'real world' one bit. She started out as a freelance journalist and writer, sending off short stories to every magazine she could find and received rejection after rejection until she learnt to better her writing. As a journalist, she was somewhat of a failure as she didn't like upsetting people and therefore never made it to tabloid press. She then studied a part time degree in psychology, which she enjoyed more than her past studied subjects. Caroline then spent years working with other people helping them shape their personal life stories (she is a Freudian at heart) until she decided to take the plunge and write her own stories full time. She believes that writing fiction is now the only way she can stay sane. Euphemia Martins was partly inspired by the family legend of her great, great grandmother, who ran away from a very rich family and ended up working in service. Unlike Euphemia, she found the life far too hard, but was rescued by a tobacconist, whom she married and with whom she had thirteen children. Murder casts a sharp light over those around it, revealing characters and morality in unique sharpness. What forces one to take the life of another and how those around react reveals so much about human nature and the fragility of society. Caroline finds the period before WW1, when everyone was setting their playing pieces on the board for global conflict fascinating. She is also intrigued by the start of female emancipation and the class-system breakdown that was taking hold. Caroline loves puzzles and finds human beings the most exciting puzzles of all. But above all, she believes life must be enjoyed with humour. We must all bring whatever light we can to the darkness.

Light, humorous "period" mystery By Leapin' Literary Lurkers As an aficionado of Masterpiece Theater, I found the mood akin to many of the stories dealing with class and gender distinctions set in grand houses.In this particular case, the reader is in on the joke that Euphemia actually ranks above the household in terms of breeding and class standing. The humorous touches were good. Only a couple of typos ("riffling" is normally used for paper/pages; it should have been "rifling" through the possessions; "bulk" for "baulk," etc.).Euphemia presented an honest, even-handed viewpoint while aware of the peril to having her virtue impugned.Overall an enjoyable read that entertained me pleasantly while my spouse was enthralled by March Madness.

By oldcaman After finishing the book including the epilogue I had to revise my review.I considered it a spoof on Downton Abbey but, apparently, it was not meant to be one. The heroine is to be taken seriously and it just happens that some characters are quite similar to those in the first season of the TV series.The writing is different from 21st century detective stories and the author confesses she is not interested in police procedurals. While the heroine (the book is written in first person singular) feels that some of the cops are smart, they surely not behave as such.Some anachronisms: would a rural English cop consider the possibility of a Bolshevik revolutionary in 2010? Five years after the Russian revolution of 1905 and seven years before the revolution of 1917 that made Russia a 'communist' nation till 1993.Recommended to anyone with a sense of humor combined with interest in some amateur sleuthing. The sequel may be bit more believable but I am not going to take my chances with it.

Major historical howler in an otherwise pleasant read By suzanne Flandreau The book is set in England in 1910 and actually begins with a few historical references to set the scene. However, someone should point out that in England in 1910 there was no such thing as a "Communist Party." There wasn't one until 1920. The main character, Euphemia, is accused of being a "Bolshevik" but the term "Bolshevik" didn't come into existence until 1917--in Russia. Followers of Marx before World War I usually called themselves Socialists. A basic internet search could have solved this problem. The problem compounded in the two later books. Rory the butler simply could not have been a member of the "Communist Party" before 1911 because it didn't exist as such. (Perhaps he could have joined one of the other labor movements?) The premise--that Euphemia is the unacknowledged granddaughter of an unnamed earl and therefore outranks her employers socially--is entertaining, and the characters are not total stereotypes, but please, Ms. Dunford, invest in a good history textbook.

By Fixyaup1 Joey's Place is a compelling story of crime and power struggles in 1970 Las Vegas. Having lived in Las Vegas during the 70s, the author took me right back there by painting a picture with words. I felt like I was witness to the corrupt cops and crooked casino bosses. This is is the first 'detective novel' that I have read, but I'm eagerly awaiting the prequel 'Landmark Kill.'

Evocative of a period of time just close enough that we can see it in the rear-view. But the crime/suspense story has elements of modern battles from water rights to corporate take-overs. Glint-eyed protagonist cop bumping up against figures from Las Vegas' history. Great storytelling, with clues and background artfully placed, then with surprising twists, and suspense throughout. As well as some down dirty battles between well drawn out characters. A great read.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely amazing book with so many plots going on in the background and from the POV of just one character. By ERIKA MESSER WOW is what I have to say about this book so far and now I cannot wait to read the second part ... the complete and utterly shocking twist of events at the end of chapter thirteen is just stunning and then you don't find out why it is happening! The first thing I noticed about this book is the juxtaposition of light and dark. The rooms are totally white, they must keep them completely perfect with nothing to clean with. Then the red blood they must give each day set against this stark and cold background - it has to be a set up for the ending but I haven't figured it out yet. They call the parents Mother and Father, and then the girls are called by their room numbers instead of their names. All of the twins start to almost become the other twin and yet Claire is holding out she seems to recognize that something is up but with her headaches and fear it is hard to stay inside herself. I found myself wondering about the half butterfly with metric shapes in between chapters - does it mean that they are trying to make 2 twins into 1 person? It seems that way. But it also shows the sterility of the whole book as well - everything MUST fit into these perfect little packages and yet they don't. At least Claire doesn't. Audrey seems like a very immature character compared to Claire in my opinion, but I loved the way the author brought Brayden into the picture and the way he metamorphosed - just like a butterfly. Butterflies come out of a cocoon and then they live a short but beautiful life. Is that what the twins are? Butterflies who are destined to live short lives? Will one but not the other survive? What are they using the blood for and why does all the testing take such a toll on them? I seriously cannot wait to find out - I read this all in less than an hour, I devoured the book! It is a MUST-READ for anyone who likes suspense and paranormal and in the end what seems to be a dystopian universe. I absolutely loved it :) And the cliffhanger will have you literally holding your breath for about 2 minutes! SUPERB!!!!

I finished this last night and I was blown away (and missing a few fingernails I might add) this has got to be one of my favorite dystopian novels and I have read quite a few, the tension is palpable in so many scenes that it is a roller coaster of a read, it is psychologically thrilling and will make you consider important questions all while trying to figure out what is really going on in this "experiment"The book starts off with excellent character development and you become invested in these characters rather quickly, Claire is my favorite dystopian heroine she is strong both physically but mentally as well ( most books seem to have a heroine that is either one or the other, but Claire is a excellent mix of both) yes, I said it i like her better than Katniss! I'll shout it from the rooftops and let the comments begin on this review of people telling me I'm crazy, but I dare you to read Hold and not be in awe of this character.I love all of Marilyn's romance novels and series but this is a game changer and I believe that she has created a intense , keeps you on the edge of your seat book. It just goes to show her talent as a writer knows no bounds! There is just hints of romance in this one and the always come at a time when the action is building and you could use a little distraction. The very descriptive writing style you experience in The Unspoken Series is present and accounted for in this book and I find that it's one of the things that set it apart from some of the other dystopian novels out there, it feels like we are right there with the characters and can feel our hearts race like we are the ones being chased! I apparently kept wiggling my feet while reading (thanks to my boyfriend for point out with wierd quirk) it was that intense and I was so into the story that I had no idea I was doing it.Now that we have gotten to the end of my long winded review I'm just going to tell you this, What are you waiting for! Get this book now!!! You will not regret it, if you are new to Marilyn's work this is a excellent place to start and I think she will find a whole new readership with this book. It's on the top of my "you gotta read this" recommendation list! I cannot wait to see where the story goes from here.

Meal times are not always consistent, so please do not expect a pattern. Listen to all directions closely.”This was a very strange book.I did like Claire as a character, and I felt really sorry for her in the way she was treated like dirt whilst her parents worshipped her twin sister. I can’t be sure that that behaviour wasn’t how they’d been ordered to behave though?? Anyway, I did feel sorry for Claire, and all the other teens forced into this crazy testing business. Really not very nice!“Yesterday we had to stay calm in a box filled with spiders and, well, that one freaked me out a little.”The storyline seemed straight-forward enough, until the experiments started that is. Once the experiments started it was very hard to know what was real and what wasn’t, and why the heck these people were doing what they were doing. Some of these ‘tests’ weren’t very nice either, and being forced to kill an animal, or even kill a person, was very strange.“Each one of us needed to kill an animal with no weapons, then skin it without any knives. He told us we could pick the animal, as though it were some kind of privilege to do so.”There was a little bit of romance in this, but not a lot. I liked that Claire had Blake though, and I think even the idea of him grounded her a bit.“I listened to his orders, but walked as slow as possible, turning back every few seconds to see Blake.”The ending to this was, as warned, a huge cliff-hanger. Looks like we’ll be waiting until June to find out what happens next!“She had my heart, right there in the centre of her chest where I aimed my gun.”6.25 out of 10

By BjoyB In a very clear and honest way, Pamela Hart reveals the 5 steps you can take ACTION on to help heal your heart. (I emphasized the word ACTION because this is not a book to skim through for the sake of just reading.) It's very clear Pamela's Hart heartfelt intention truly is to help bring healing to your heart and transformation in your life. From the start she asks the reader to make a commitment (an agreement) you make between "You and You" to start a new life right away and you sign and date the agreement. Pamela states that she has designed the 5 steps to heal your heart, help you get back UP and to move forward. I bought the kindle version so I drafted my agreement on purple paper cut out in the shape of a heart (that's just me going an extra "step" LOL) and then I wrote out my agreement to read through each of the 5 steps and personalized my commitment to take action. As I write this review I am on STEP 3 and I've already been positively impacted by steps 1, 2 and 3! Pamela Hart shares openly and with courage personal life experiences (ie-suffering from physical and verbal abuse in relationships and how she played a role in allowing it, an abortion that she didn't really want to go through with and the steps she needed to take in healing from that, her imperfections in parenting yet realizing she could improve by how she thought and spoke to her children, and a whole lot more). The author shares with such honesty you can feel her heart and everything she felt going through those experiences. (I was moved at one point to the point of tears.) And she shares with PURPOSE: To show how she had to make some decisions to change and transform her life to CREATE A NEW and BETTER LIFE for herself and those she loves.I can say with certainty: Pamela Hart STEPPED UP! Her life is totally different now from what her life was like before and for the better! I'm inspired to believe for and dream for a better life where the sky is the limit. I now have 5 steps to work with and I'm stepping UP! I will IMAGINE BIG because it has worked for Pamela and will THINK better and use my mouth to SPEAK only words that help me manifest the life I desire. Was a good read :) By Abbey's 1-Click Book Blog When I first opened up Secrets I was expecting some hardcore Russian Mafia book, however I was pleasantly surprised that this was indeed not the fact, yeah you get some bad ass Russians but this is also a story of overcoming the past and embracing the new and unknown.Emily is a women with a past - a terrible, unforgettable, heartbreaking past which she is trying to move on from.. start afresh. Brand new college, brand new city and brand new friends, she just wants to focus on her school work and forget about Men. That seems possible to do until Luka 'Tate' Masterson struts on to the scene with all his Russian hotness!As their friends intertwine, Emily finds her self being drawn to Tate's protectiveness towards her and when she really is in danger - he shows her that will always protect her and keep her safe, but no matter how honest Emily might finally be about her past, Tate is still keeping secrets - secrets that might actually tear them apart in the end.Can Emily finally confront her past? And will she be able to accept that Tate is not exactly who she thought he was? Will they as a couple be able to overcome their secrets ?For a debut book, I think Sapphire done a good job - yeah there were some formatting issues, or a few things which could have been improved to help the book flow abit better - but the storyline most definitely comes out on top in my eyes.Congratulations on your debut release, I'm excited to read more of your work.

Unique, Stand Alone with a HEA By MLupher **Given in exchange for an honest review****Spoilers**The beginning starts out very evasive about what's going on with Emily, but I quickly forgot about that when Tate started showing up more often. I love how he tries to be patient and wait, but has a hard time not giving into temptation and how she tries to push him away but just can't bring herself to do it fully. An alpha vs a spitfire, both having their insecurities with each other, these two are a match made in heaven. When we finally find out about Emily's past, and when she finally tells Tate, he's ready to protect her with his life. Even though he hadn't said it, I saw this as his way of saying he loves Emily. If you're looking for an instant hookup, this isn't it. They fall into their relationship slowly, and I'd say it's a little over half way through before they do much more than kiss. My emotions were well played upon. I laughed, I was terrified, I fell in love with these characters, and I also wanted to help Tate take out the "Kop3uha."** I did think that Tate's proposal was a little fast, and he didn't technically ask, but I loved how he tried to make it her own and not overly lavish, there are too many of those out there. Also I have a hankering for ice cream now ;-)I loved this stand alone HEA!If you're still reading this, what are you waiting for?! Go one-click and read Secrets, now!

By Denise Keef I have been a big fan of AR Wise for a few years now and have read all of his books and I have to say that Never Coming Home is the best story that this very talented author has written. Within the first few pages I was engrossed in a very chilling tale…one that is made more terrorizing because it could happen to anyone of us. This is a story of family, friendship, trust and betrayal. It’s a story that will have you hugging your loved ones and always kissing them good bye. This will take you into every parent’s worst nightmare of their child going missing.Mr. Wise has a way of telling a story that not only makes you feel every emotion of the characters but also has you on the edge of your seat as you are reading. This is an emotion packed story that had me laughing in some parts and crying my eyes out in others! The characters are strongly written and all play an intricate part in the story. Some I loved and some I really came to hate. There were many twists to this story and just when I thought I had it figured out…Bam…another twist and I was guessing all over again at who the real “bad guy” was. This I believe was done on purpose by this amazing author to keep us guessing “who done it”! I kind of had it figured out but I will say this…you will be in for a big surprise if you think you have it figured out!This is one book I can say without a doubt that I highly recommend! It is one that should be added to everyone’s library and enjoyed as one of the finest thrilling mysteries because it is that good! It is by far the finest…freakin’ best story ever!Thank you Mr. Wise for a very entertaining…edge of my seat…emotionally charged story and I hope that this will be the beginning of a series to continue on with the lives of these characters. Wise for a few years now and can say, without the slightest hesitation, he has truly outdone himself with his latest release of, Never Coming Home!! Most of what we've read from A.R. has been some fantastic stories of horror and zombies/apocalypse and is always impeccably written. Mr. Wise can weave some seriously incredible tales!! I remember the day that he announced on his Facebook page that he was going to delve into the mystery genre and gave his fans a little taste of what he was working on.....I was so psyched!! A.R. always does an exceptional job of drawing the reader in with thrilling stories and exciting characters....I couldn't wait to see how he did with "uncharted territory". After the first few chapters of, Never Coming Home, I knew that I wasn't going to be disappointed. I became completely engulfed with this "who done it" thrill ride and devoured it pretty quickly. Just when I was absolutely certain that I knew who "did it", there was a new twist and I was left guessing all over again. I literally sat on the edge of my seat biting my nails for the majority of this book. What I really loved about this story is that it's pretty clear that it's the beginning of a new series for us fans but, Mr. Wise wraps this one up with a beautiful shiny bow and no cliffhangers!! I highly recommend, Never Coming Home, to everyone that's looking for a fun, thrilling, fresh read!! We'll done A.R.! I'm anxiously awaiting your next release!!

Mr. Wise has an excellent writing style letting you get in the heads of many different characters at the same time. You will not be disappointed. I can't wait for the next book in the series.Another good reason to get this book is the sample of another trilogy he has the written. His book 314 was the first book I ever read from Mr. Wise. He had me hooked from then on out. I have had the pleasure to read everything he has written. I have not been disappointed and eager for his next one. Enjoy!

22 of 22 people found the following review helpful. Wow By Lisa Baker This is, by far, her best book yet.From the first chapter, which is terrifying, to the last page I could not put the book down. I wont go into detail here (other reviews have done that and it is also too easy to have spoilers) except to say there are so many surprises that you are on the edge of your seat the entire time. My jaw actually dropped at one point. Not only is it a great story, but it is written so beautifully and fluidly that you take time with every page.I don't know of anyone who would not love this book.... I am sad that I have finished it. 5+ stars Ms. Unger!

By The Book Bird This was the perfect book to be stuck in an airport-- it made the hours of killing time fly by. I hate comparing books to other books, but the best way I can think of describing "In the Blood" is if "We Need to Talk About Kevin" and "Gone Girl" had a book baby.Told from the point of view of college-aged compulsive liar, Lana Granger, the plot's twist and turns will keep you frantically turning pages as each story arc neatly intersects and culminates in a crazy conclusion. Who is Lana? What is her past? Where is her missing friend? Is she lying to herself or just the reader?I don't want to give away any secrets, but while some might finds parts of the novel far-fetched, I was was so consumed by the story that I didn't even notice at the time.Well-written, and a definite must for those that like psychological thrillers and blind-corner plot twists, I can't wait until my friends read this one so we can talk about it!

By MarieM Unger is among the best contemporary suspense authors in my opinion. Her characterization is simply wonderful, plot development is meticulous and strategic, and the ability to build and sustain suspense is fantastic. This book is not for the faint of heart and contains several plot twists which play out wonderfully. Unger foreshadows twists enough so that they work, but not too much so they are obvious. This book has a few jaw dropping surprises. I highly recommend book. Unger is an expert novelist.
