About the Author Suzanne Steele is not a one genre Author. She will be the first to tell you that her imagination just simply won't permit it. You will find that she does accompany different genres within these author's page walls. Suzanne began her writing career writing self-help books. She then moved on to the study of criminology for suspense novel research that she was doing. (That research began 2 years ago.) She did this for the reason that she was able to research issues such as: stalking, kidnapping, and the utilization of mental and physical control.Many of the men in her stories are often times operating under more of an obsession than romance or love.If you are looking for the typical romance or relationship, this is not the Author to read. I'm all for the alpha dominant males that Suzanne writes about and I'm come to love them all despite their actions in the stories, It's all for love. With Rene being the Mistress, and dominant one in this story, it was surprisingly just as awesome and swoon worthy as the rest of her books! Even though Agent Tucker is submissive in the bedroom, he has an alpha personality outside of the bedroom. I love these characters just the rest of them. I'm glad after numerious other books that introduced us to these FBI agents, we were finally able to get their story... Must Read!!!!!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Such a good boy... By B.U. I was excited to read a story devoted to the Agents of the dark journey Suzanne takes us on in her books. You do not need to read any of her previous books to read this one, but the Agents do make an appearance in many of them. This book does have a lite BDSM element, but more of a crime story line than the dark romance we are used to with Suzanne. This story does discuss spousal abuse and if this is a trigger for you than you should not read. Can't wait to read more of Agent Turner and Murphy!!

It's got a little mystery, hot loving and some BDSM elements. The story is just the right length and the chapters are short so I'm not tempted to skip to get to the end.**SPOILER ALERT...Only if you are new to the series**It's a refreshing break from the Alpha Male romances. The fact that she's a young Domme is even more interesting.

One culprit is arrested - but guess what? There are more. Of course, bad guy #1, after being accused of murder, doesn't rat out bad guy #2 (or even hint that there is another one). OK, it could happen.The heroine flies to CA from GA and discovers bad guy #2 putting empty weed killer bottles in the trash outside her home. He admits he poisoned the party food for revenge and runs away. Call the cops? No. Tell everyone at the party "don't eat the food, it has been poisoned? No. Start throwing it on the floor so they can't/won't eat it? Sure that works. Food destroyed, party guests gone...call the local cops? No. Call the detective in GA who immediately hops on a plane WITH his "team" of criminalists to gather evidence. Worry about jurisdiction issues? Nah, No problem.Please. Couldn't decide if this was a fantasy or a mystery.

18 of 19 people found the following review helpful. A great mystery By Denise Austin This is a wonderful story. I loved Poppy and her quirkiness. Any story that involves food and a good mystery does it for me and this involved both. It has a touch of humor and a lot of angst for Poppy but she is able to solve the murder and do what she set out to do. I won't spoil the story but I truly loved this book.

By Amazon Customer Murder at a pastry school doesn't stop its students from turning out the tastiest morsels in Georgia.Poppy Peters had to give up her dream (rather her mother's dream) of being a ballerina after a back injury. But her Grandmother Liz, a Calle Pastry Academy alumni and baker extraordinaire, has given her an idea for another occupation - pastry chef. Poppy, against her family's liking, decides to enroll in the same pastry school her grandmother attended. There she seems to find happiness - new friends and even a love interest. But things quickly go awry.Not the typical murder mystery - the reader is well into the book before a dead body shows up and there is a mystery to solve, there's no list of suspects and the clues are lacking - still Southern Peach Pie and a Dead Guy fits into the cozy genre easily. The characters are typical, but fun. It's set in a small community and amateur sleuthing and good baking abound. (Check out the recipes in the back of the book, they look yummy.)WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!However, for this reader there were a lot of things amiss: Peach pie doesn't actually have much to do with the murder. Poppy, who acts a lot younger than thirty, has a love of coffee that people seem to know about - even before she has one cup of it (I believe she only drinks one cup in the entire book). There's an illegal ring of thieves that seem to have no purpose and there's blackmailing of students it seems, without anything bad to hold against them. Then there's the lack of research by the author which made the book less believable. Gardner writes about a pastry school where the instructors are called "Mr." and "Professor" instead of "Chef." Students are allowed to cook in shorts and high heels (what happened to chef jackets?), and valuable items are stored for some reason in classroom kitchens. But the most egregious miss was how the story surrounded the French founder of the school who immigrated to Georgia "nearly" a hundred years ago. It appears that he soon became disillusioned with the school in the early 1900s and went back to France to bake for the Queen. The last queen of France, Marie Antoinette, died in 1792 (a lot longer than a hundred years ago.) Seeing that France's very last queen was pretty popular (with the saying "let them eat cake," erroneously attributed to her, and having her head chopped off), the author should have gotten the history (timeline) right. Then when you think the mystery is solved and life has gone back to normal for Poppy, without nary a clue from the author to the reader, the case picks right back up, assumingly, as a twist to the story. The only surprise was why the author did that because it's kind of unbelievable. Wouldn't people actually taste (if not smell) weed killer and not eat the food? And why did the killer spray it on the food in the backyard then throw the containers away in the trash cans there? There would be fingerprints everywhere. And where were the people that actually delivered the food?? Did they just hang out while the killer sprayed the poison and then packaged it back up and dropped it off at the door? Even though the book is fictional, it still should be believable.Not the best cozy mystery book, but a light quick read nonetheless. Three stars.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Love my Dia de los Muertos Adult Coloring book By peralta I'm obsessed with Day of the dead so my first coloring book had to be this one. I love the different levels in the book some are very easy and some are very detailed. Very good mix of types of skulls, will definitely buy from this publisher again. Coleridge my first picture with gel pens and it looks beautiful!

It does have some cool pictures in it though. It has 30 separate pages so when you color you don't get marks on the next color page since there's nothing on the back.

I tend to really like sugar skulls and other similar Day of the Day images because they seem really beautiful to me. This book is certainly no exception. With a mixture of really simple and more intricate designs it's a great mixture of images to work with depending on your mood and what you feel like doing. I think it's a great addition to my ever growing collection of coloring books and I'm really thrilled to have this, I'll be digging through the other books that are available from this publisher to see what else they have that I can add to my collection as well.

Filled with shootings, mystery, angst, town bigots, both of them are trying to find their way. While in San Diego for a wedding, a body is found at their home and the mystery begins. Both of them love each other, but Chris is unhappy and wants to return to San Diego. Doug finally opens up about his past and why he has stayed in Elkin. Through the course of the investigation, Doug realizes his life is with Chris and not in the past where he has been living. They only have to make it out of Elkin alive to have the life they want.

For this reason, book three in AJ Thomas’ Least Likely Partnership series hit especially close to home. For some people that depression is a matter of circumstances and is fleeting. For others, it can lead them into dark places from which they will never return. The Intersection of Purgatory and Paradise deals with both extremes.Though the main theme of Intersection is quite bleak, the story is one of hope more than anything else. It is one of making the tough choices. It is about that other person who completes you and giving everything to them.There are some potential triggers, but I admire the way Thomas handles them. There is talk of abuse, rape, suicide, and of course murder. But every instance is handled with respect and reverence. Every instance adds to the plot and or the characters. There is no sensationalizing these acts. There is only coping and moving on.We return to the relationship of Doug and Christopher from book 1, A Casual Weekend Thing. While you don’t strictly have to have read book one, to understand and appreciate Intersection, I think the story is certainly enriched by already being connected to Christopher and Doug. By already being invested in their relationship. If I didn’t have a handle on Doug from book one, I don’t think I could have looked past some of his actions in the early part of the story. I don’t know that I would have wanted him to be Christopher’s happily ever after.Fans of Elliott and Ray from book 2, Holding Out For a Fairytale, will get a satisfying peek into the lives of those two.Demons of the past can have a significant impact on your present and future. The Intersection of Purgatory and Paradise is about facing those demons and moving forward, with a satisfying mystery thrown in to shed light on your shortcomings.

Horrific read By Paula Stafford A bazaar, disturbing, sick novel that had me questioning the authors psyche and life experiences which caused him to write such a dark twisted story on sexual abuse of boys and men. It seemed the author wanted to parallel the life of Lazarus with Sodom and Gomorrah. The story lacked substance and logic. It focused on homophobia, the hypocrisy of church going people and leaders of both the church and the community. It was filled with murder and mayhem of not only the main characters, but also most of the ancillary characters without the reader having enough knowledge about any of them to fully comprehend justification for murder and not prison or some other form of punishment. It seemed the author seeked a cathartic means to an end by killing everyone. Very deprived book, would not recommend. Was quite difficult to get through.

A Read to push the limits of your imagination By Morgan Robertson From a reader that has been waiting for this Trilogy to be grown and nurtured from a simple scruple posted daily it was worth the wait. Marc Lacy certainly got in the kitchen with this first installment. This is not an appetizer this is the first course. I can't wait for the second and third to be served. Books have always been a trusty companion for me. A good book will keep my attention but a great book with drive my imagination beyond is limits. Marc is an author in his own right, whose work aligns along with historical greats as C.S. Lewis.

Highley If you buy a W E B Griffin novel looking for shootin' and lootin' combat action, you'll probably be a little disappointed. For new readers, I strongly recommend the first two volumes of The Corps series. As an ensemble, the characters are the most compelling of Griffin's works and the stories follow a mostly historical time line. Readers whose view of WWll comes from old B&W movies may find the carousing a little rugged although the "Platoon" and "Apocalypse Now" generation will find the sex and drinking pretty conventional. Griffin provides his readers a slightly different angle or angles, offering multiple intertwined stories which are more or less connected within the context of the whole. Sometimes, this works well, sometimes less so, depending really upon how well he manages to tie the whole thing together in the last few pages. If this appeals to you there are a couple of other things you may want to consider before beginning your journey into Griffin's micro version of history. The most obvious is that the books are written in series form, "The Corps", Brotherhood of War", "Honorbound", etc, and while you probably will want to read them in their proper order, (numbered for your convenience, Book l, Book ll, and so on), you may find reading them straight through a bit wearisome. This is due to the Author's practice of bringing new readers up to speed on the reoccurring characters, (reading the story on Ken McCoy's nickname for the third or fourth time, if done in too short a time frame, is off putting). Another artistic conceit is Griffin's love of the "small world phenomena", (think Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon), all of his primary cast not only know each other through family, or business associations, or mutual friends or a shared experience, they somehow manage to be tied to famous persons of the time. To enjoy the Griffin books you'll just have to suspend reality a bit and just go with it. Get used to guest appearances by "Dugout Doug MacArthur and FDR. You also may be a little impatient with some of the editing and although most folks who read these as military or history buffs won't mind the routine technical references to uniforms, weapons, rations, and other gear, the casual reader might. I found the earliest "Corps" and "Brotherhood" stories strongest and his later work, and the "Badge of Honor" series to be a little less focused.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Another CORPS Novel from WEB Griffin By A. LOWE THE CORPS is the best novel series I have read. It is FICTION, PEOPLE. Some complain about the re telling of the previous characters in every book. This makes the series readable non-sequentially. I bought most of the series used, out of sequence, and could easily keep up with the story. Good historical fiction is an artform, Griffin has painted his Guernica in the form of this series. It has encouraged me to delve into 20th century USMC research further. I hope they make a movie out of it someday. I would see it 50 times and buy the DVD.

By Rodger Raubach This is the first volume of eight in "The Corps" series by W.E.B.Griffin , and is probably one of the best volumes. It is without doubt a wonderful intro to the writings of Mr. Griffin.The setting of the novel is Shanghai, China in early 1941 , before the onset of U.S. involvement in the hostilities known as World War II. We are first introduced to corporal Kenneth McCoy , a bright 21 year old Marine who has just "shipped over" for a second enlistment in the Marine Corps. After McCoy defends himself from the assault by a group of Italian Marines , by skillful use of a knife , he becomes known as "Killer" McCoy. Captain Edward Banning enters the series as the intelligence officer of th 4th Marines assigned to help McCoy as his defense officer at a Court Martial for killing the Italians. After "Killer" McCoy is cleared , Banning enlists Ken as an assistant in collecting intelligence on the Japanese army that is occupying China. Sergeant Ernest Zimmerman is a motor pool NCO who operates convoys to various Marine installations in the vicinity of Shanhai ; McCoy is subsequently assigned to the convoys to collect information for Banning , using his lowly status for cover. The Japanese provoke another incident wherin McCoy kills a number of "Chinese baandits" with Zimmerman , which results in his transfer back the the U.S.Unbeknownst to McCoy , he was selected by Captain Sessions , who met Ken on the convoys ,to be run through an officers's course at Quantico. While at Quantico, Ken meets Malcom "Pick" Pickering who continues to play a major role in later novels, as well as his romantic interest in the person of Earnestine "Ernie" Sage.As one may have concluded at this point , the volume is crucial to anyone contemplating reading any of the later episode in the series , since almost all the major characters are introduced in "Call to Arms".I have read this book 3 or 4 times over a ten year period and never tire of it. Well written with excellent character development. Briskly paced with good continuity. All in all--one of my favorite books. Five stars plus!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. NOT A BEDTIME STORY By Jefe This is what I DON'T like about the book. IT KEPT ME AWAKE WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN CATCHING UP ON SOME R.E.M. Overall, it was suspenseful from the beginning to end. Because there was not a lot of lull in the action though, you feel like things just keep happening to Collin Cook, the protaganist, but not only superficially understanding the invisible hand creating all the chaos. The details are somewhat filled in as the story goes on, but still keeps you wondering at times; I assume this is to keep the pace fast and action-packed, but the trade-off is a somewhat less cerebral development of plot and character. Even by the end of this first installment, you still don't have a deep understanding of the antagonist, who is kept murky, presumably by design and to be unveiled in what I hope will be a sequel to an unresolved climax. Overall, a good, entertaining read- one that will keep your attention even when your brain wants to shut off; and especially appropriate for travelers too weary for heady reading, and too uncomfortable to nap between destinations- such readers will be able to relate to the main character.

As the story line was developed and the scene was switched to locations all over the world, I grew more and more attached to the main character, Collin, as he time after time eluded law enforcement and the "bad guys" who were both hot on his trail. Each location and scene are expertly developed by the author and the suspense builds with every twist and turn in the story. I can hardly wait for the sequel.

About the Author

A son of Italian immigrants, Louis Zamperini (1917-2014) was a U.S. Olympic runner, World War II bombardier, and POW survivor. After the war, he returned to the United States to found the Victory Boys Camp for at-risk youth and became an inspirational speaker. Zamperini's story was told in his 2003 autobiography Devil at My Heels, as well as in Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 biography Unbroken.

David Rensin worked closely with Louis Zamperini for many years and cowrote Devil at My Heels, as well as fifteen other books, including five New York Times bestsellers.

Sadly, Louis is gone now; the co-author, David Rensin, notes that the manuscript of this book was delivered to the publisher just days before Zamperini's death.For those readers who don't know much about Louis Zamperini, you are in for a treat. If you have already read the bestseller, UNBROKEN, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't read it yet, stop what you're doing, and go get it today: Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.Louis (or "Louie," as he was known) Zamperini was a man of great character and even greater forgiveness. A wild delinquent as a youth, he perfected ways to commit petty crimes and not get caught. One of his more creative crimes was using a fishing pole to steal merchandise from inside a store. Facing punishment for his many larcenies, he was forced to run in a race. So, he learned to run. At first, he was not very fast (his smoking didn't help), but he quickly excelled, and went on to set records. 28 of 30 people found the following review helpful. Louis does it again...one last time. By Mantazuma Great follow up to his previous work via Devils on my Heel or Unbroken. Easy read. Book size (physically) is about 2/3 the size of a regular book, so even though it has 230 pages it's more like 125 pages if it were a regular size book. [It's the shape of square versus a rectangular book] Still, it's great to hear the last words and testimony of Louis before his passing. Great life lessons because he takes the reader into the internal thought process as he is going through the adverse moments. I would compare this to Viktor Frankl's: Man's Search for Meaning.

A Hero Amongst Heroes of the Greatest Generation By George Briggs Olympian track runner, WW2 and POW survivor, humanitarian, but most importantly a good Christian gentleman who put his faith to work by championing the underdog. There are so many lessons to be learned by reading this account of a life well-lived. I look forward to the upcoming film.
