Review Praise for "Untrue Colors" "This book was full of adventure, mystery, action, fear, anger, pain, hope, loss, family reunions and so much more...I was a little sad when I finished it because I wanted the story to continue." - 5 Star Top Pick Review, Night Owl Reviews  "The plot is filled with globe-trotting intrigue, stolen art, secret identities, and dangerous villains, and Forand balances the suspenseful mystery with a passionate romance. Alex is an intriguing heroine--a linguistic genius and a master of disguise with an uncanny eye for appraising art. She's complemented by Henry, a dashing anthropology professor and earl who's dedicated his life to helping abused women and children. Their romance unfolds in scenes that are both tender and erotic. The supporting characters are also strong, including Simon, whose sexy swagger conceals an unrequited love...Detailed settings and references to real stolen art, including Henri Matisse's 1901 painting The Luxembourg Gardens, enhance the story.A briskly paced romance featuring breathless suspense." - Kirkus Reviews"Untrue Colors is one of the best Romantic Suspense books I have read." - Ellesea Loves Reading"Seriously, one of the better contemporary romances that I've read in a while. The plot was very well written. It was equal parts mysterious, suspenseful and romantic." Christine Marie's review for Lulo Fangirl"Gripping, fast-paced, and wickedly unique." - Jodi Linton, Author of "Pretty Reckless""WOW - a superbly written roller coaster ride that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from the very beginning." - Elaine from SplashesIntoBooks

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Intrigue, espionage, and love. By Kate Forest If you like a sit on the edge of your seat story, with a hot romance woven through it, then this is your book. Alex, an art appraiser, is running from her art-thief, violent ex-boyfriend. She’s a kickass, take no prisoners woman and an art expert. How cool is that? Henry, the Oxford professor she hooks up with, isn’t your typical hero either. He’s sexy and brilliant, and has enough of a past to give him the skills to go up against the criminal mastermind. And together, the sparks fly, fizzle away with laughter, and then re-ignite.Henry’s sexy half-brother, Simon, is the real spy. But the college professor holds his own when things get dicey. Alex proves herself tenacious and loyal, even when running from her past. There was enough tension in this story that I had to read it through the spaces between my fingers, but not so much that I had to sleep with a baseball bat under my bed.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. perfect blend of suspense and romance for me By Jeannie Zelos     Untrue Colors, Veronica ForandGenre:  Mystery and thrillers, RomanceReview from Jeannie Zelos book reviewsMy first read by Veronica and what a read it is. I really enjoyed it. I enjoy a suspense novel that’s not too heavy, and this with the romance angle added was perfect for me.Alex – wow – what’s she’s been through and yet she’s tough, still fighting and trying to stay alive. It must have been really hard for her, and poor Matt, how that must hurt her conscience, and its not her fault at all, she’s not to blame for her awful ex.So, escaping from Luc once again by the skin of her teeth she ends up accepting some help from Henry. She thinks he’s a simple Professor, and Simon just his half brother – and they are, but they are also much much more. Henry is also an Earl, with a castle no less, but that’s not all he is either. Simon is suspicious of Alex, why is she on the run, and who from and what for – he wants to protect his brother and he can see already how Henry is drawn to her.Henry needs help tracing a stolen painting, and after finding out why, Alex agrees to help him. Its for a cause dear to them both. It brings them into the murky and dangerous world of her ex though, where stolen arts are traded and the secret arms market reigns. Death and murder are everyday part of life in these underworld transactions. Its a great read, really sets a scene that feels genuine, and I loved the characters of Alex, Henry and Simon. They each had their own special qualities ( and talents) that shaped what happened. There are times when I really feared for what would happen. The suspense was perfect for me, letting me follow along with the story, taking wild guesses at what might happen ( and getting them wrong!). It’s perfectly paced, letting events flow very naturally and wasn’t one of those where everything is crammed into two days...but spread over a few weeks. The ending is climatic and the finale just so much what I wanted, and felt very satisfying..Stars: five, a great story that for me was a great mix of mystery, suspense and romance.ARC provided by Netgalley and publishers.

10 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Not For Me By Julie In Untrue Colors, you have a woman named Alex (and around 10 aliases) who is on the run from her art-stealing boyfriend who wants to put a bullet in her. She goes from country to country trying to outrun this sadistic, virginity-stealing con-artist. Alex is an expert in art and can spot a forgery at 40 paces. She keeps her nose out of the art world ... at least until she meets the Earl and he needs some help with a ... task.So ... I'm still a bit unsure how I feel about this one. It was just ... okay. I think one of my major problems was with Alex. She has been brutally abused. Sexually abused. And recently. This isn't something that happened years ago that she has been dealing with for a long time ... it's still fresh. But she throws herself at this dude after just having said that she can't do a physical relationship. It was very contradictory, just a total back and forth between being a damaged/chaste girl to someone who seems to be willing to whore herself out. Now sure, this could be part of her character ... her being so abused by the previous relationship that she mistakes sexual advances/action as affection. But that isn't how the book read ... it didn't insinuate that this was how Alex was dealing. It came off as strange.Untrue Colors was interesting at first. And then it started to drag. Especially the ending. Good Lord. It was almost painful with how hard it was to keep reading. The excitement that I had for the beginning of the book just didn't last into the ending. Things started to get long-winded and I just didn't enjoy it. And the fight scenes. Oh, the fight scenes. Those also didn't seem realistic. I'm a big lover of military/spy books. Those are just filled to the brim with fights and violence. At one point in this one, someone caught a dude's punch with their hand. Who the hell did he think he was? Mr. Miyagi? I think not. It came across as feeling disingenuous. Maybe it was the fact that the prior parts of the novel didn't state or insinuate that this dude was such an epic fighter that he could catch a fist with the palm of his hand. Maybe he's part of the Matrix ... there is no spoon ...And the ending ... dragged ... on ... for ... forever. AND it wasn't satisfying for me. I just didn't like it at all. I'm not a fan, I guess. But it has received super high ratings, so I'm probably going to stay in the minority on this one.
