Unusual geometric patterns with a mandala influence By iiiireader [[VIDEOID:2374d777be5ebf734164c3c491c8dd24]]This is a coloring book filled with 31 interesting patterns with a mandalas type vibe. The artist involved with this book, John Wik, has done several other Creative Haven books on tesselations and other geometric shapes. While some of his previous books have been reprints, this one does not appear to be one. I don't own any of his other books, so this one is, at the very least, new to me. The shapes are very interesting and call for lots of colorThere are 31 designs in this coloring book which are printed on bright white perforated paper that is a fairly heavy stock. The designs are printed on one side of the page only. I usually like to remove my projects from the books to work on and I love that Creative Haven always makes it easy for me to do so.All of my gel pens and markers bleed through on Creative Haven books to varying degrees. I use chip board, cardstock, or freezer paper in between the sheets (if I am keeping it in the book) or under the page if I remove it from the book.

Another great book from John Wik - highly bold and geometric designs - challenging By BellaBella by the sea ~~~ New highly geometric abstract mandala type designs, very bold and detailed indeed. On some of the designs I used black or white here and there to make the sharp designs pop out further in relief. Could get a 3-D look with the right color combos and shading but it is very challenging.~ 31 designs~ 4 colored pictures to jump start our creativity~ perforated pages are easy to remove~ one design per page, blank on the other side~ bold lines~ high quality printing resolution, no missing lines~ the more shading, the more the different designs will be accentuated, great for learning shading and color combinations~ thicker paper conducive to gel and alcohol markers, though some bleed through is to be expectedWin-win for all coloring enthusiasts.
10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Expanding Mandala Designs By Judith E The designs make me think of expanding mandalas, like the universe expanded after the big bang. Each design has a central mandala that appears to continue expanding off the page. Some are quite detailed with small spaces and others have large easy spaces to color. None are super tiny, so you should be able to use any coloring medium you like. I have enjoyed coloring them. They are a nice variation on traditional mandala designs.The book has 31 different images on bright white medium weight paper. Each image is on the front of a page with a blank back and is perforated for removal if you desire. Markers do bleed through, gel pens don't. The inner covers have example of completed pages to inspire you.I have attached the pages I have completed so far. #1 was colored wit Bic Mark-it Fine tip markers, #2 was colored with Utrecht color pencils, #3 was colored with Tombow Irojiten Deep Colors color pencils, #4 was colored with Stabilo 88 ultra fine point markers and Reflections ultra fine point marker pens.
