1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Good Compelling Read By John Hazen Kate Abbott adroitly interweaves the various threads that make up Running Through the Wormhole. Nothing is as it appears. The present is a placeholder for the past to re-emerge and live again. The main character, Phoebe Rivers, has a love of running that is supposed to be her refuge from the cares of modern life but instead it turns to horror. Even the people Phoebe has come to know and love are suspect. Ms. Abbott does a fine job of building the tension as Phoebe must put the pieces together—in some cases they are supernatural pieces—to uncover and solve the mystery so that she can protect herself and her children from multiple threats. I did find the “villains” of the story to be slightly one-dimensional and less believable in their actions and motivations than the other characters, but this does not detract from a book that I enjoyed reading and recommend to others to read.

The main character, Phoebe Rivers, is faced with a terrifying assault that leaves her fearing for her safety as well as her children's. Once she begins receiving threats, you as the reader begin to bond with this character. You want her to find answers because you care about this character. While Phoebe begins to piece together the pieces of her attack, she begins to learn that nothing is as it seems. Those she once trusted now become suspects, even her husband. This twist in the novel made me excited and nervous. A great writer is one that leaves you caring about the characters and fearing for their safety, and this novel does just that. I loved the supernatural twists and mysteries that are embedded throughout this story. Great read!

This book will have readers guessing during its foray into a shocking underside of humanity right on through the twists and turns in the lives of the heroine and her family.
