7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Not the usual excellent novel By Hollister Bulldawg I hesitated on the number of stars, then realized they don't mean much without words behind them. Mr Ellsworth tells a story in this book just on the verge of being unbelievable. But he tells it well and it flows nicely. But credibility is stretched beyond the limit in this book. (I have given all his others a 5-star rating with lots of superlatives in the reviews.) His court action is weak, unrealistic, and is missing the post-trial consequences that most readers enjoy. I did not enjoy all the italicized asides that described his life. It broke up the story too much. Readers of the Thadeus Murfee novels have a decent perspective of how Murfee emerged. All this detail was excessive to me. And seeing a heroine like Christine portrayed as not a heroine is a tough read. Katy has been downplayed to a shrewish wife hell-bent on pregnancy without any regard to her husband's predicament. She used to be a brilliant individual who had risen above the fray in the past novels. I did not like her at all in this book. Oh well, maybe next time.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Great Read. Page Turner!!! By Rowen John Ellsworth has grown from a good writer to a fantastic writer. This story was the most riveting I have read in quite a while. I usually just say whether I liked the book or not, but this time I have to add that I read it all in one day and hardly put it down. Thaddeus Murfee has evolved!The characters are well developed and there are some wonderful twists and turns.It all begins when our once bumbling lawyer gets on a plane with his paralegal, Christine, who has agreed to take on a job for the CIA. . In a hijacked plane ending up in Russia things go south for Christine in a hurry. Angelina,The journalist who wants to write the next best seller brings us more of Thaddeus early life.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Read it in one sitting By Lauren Laird I have now read 5 out of 6 of Mr. Ellsworth's books, all enjoyable. One of the best things about his books, is that they are all so different. The variety and scope is great, and as a legal thriller fan, I have found this author to be one of my favorites. This book stood out in the portrayal of the Russian way of life, very interesting. (And scary!) The plot twisted and turned and I found myself wanting to read the ending just to, you know, make sure everyone survived. That's when you know that the author has made the reader care about his characters. Would recommend this book and author to anyone who likes mystery, drama, and legal maneuvering in their lives.
