Wine Astray is part 1 of a 3 part series. When her perfect life in the city implodes Rysen Morris has to make some big decisions. No job, no home and a failed relationship make up her mind for her. She packs up her meagre belongings and heads back to her childhood hometown. Moving into her sister's house while wondering what on earth she is going to do with her life she soon finds that Christina is having problems of her own. Wine shipments for the Spirit of the Soul, her sister's wine store, are going missing and Rysen soon finds herself in the middle of investigating the mystery. Complicating her life is her building attraction to the handsome security consultant her sister has hired to help out and old feelings rising to the surface for her high school sweetheart who still lives in town. Torn between feelings for the two men will she be able to find out what's happening to the wine shipments and help her sister save her store while keeping her heart intact?

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Not For Me By Jackie Nicholson I loved other books by the author but was disappointed with this book. Too many important parts are not the least bit believable. The biggest problem being with the wine shipments disappearing and nobody being responsible. Would anyone continue to order from this supplier if they didn't stand behind their delivery service?Also, I simply could not connect with Rysen and her antics, and she disappointed me when she considered becoming involved with her good friend's lover.I adore this author, so I will give this series one more try when book 2 is released but I'm not impressed so far.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. NOT A MYSTERY By DOA Fairly well written, despite far too many typos for a professional writer putting something out there for the public. The book felt more like a romance--with a not very likable, opportunistic heroine. She gives brief lipservice to not wanting to go out with a friend's boyfriend only a day after the friend and boyfriend broke up. She's easily won over by this creepy guy, while thinking she's in love with a near stranger...and all of this is right after her longtime boyfriend dumped her. We aren't given much to root for. I'll pass on any further, non-mystery stories with her in the MC role.

This on is a bit different and lacks a bit of the charm of her other series. No paranormal is this one just a pretty straight forward mystery that is pretty much a serial. Some of the mystery will be resolved in this episode but the overall mystery will not be solved until book three.These are quick basically clean reads based on a fairly familiar trope. Girl leaves home suffers set back and has to move home and attempts to reconcile with family while solving a mystery that affects the family. K.J.'s writing style is clean so the books are readable and enjoyable but they do lack some of the likeability and charm of her other series. She hs also succumbed in this series to the Stephanie Plum syndrome (love triangle).
