Pete Kelliher and the FBI thought the boys were safe. So did their parents. So did the hospital staff. In fact, everyone thought the boys were safe. That is, until people began dying. More than a hundred arrest warrants were served and those who took part in the human trafficking ring were arrested. However, six dangerous men escaped and go into hiding. Led by Detective Anthony Dominico, these men vow revenge on those who forced them to run and no one is safe. Not Brett McGovern; not his younger brother Bobby; not George Tokay; not the twins, Randy and Billy. These boys are in danger and live in fear that at any moment, they could be murdered along with their families. Worse, the FBI has no clues and no leads. Not even a place to begin looking.

After reading "Taken Lives", the prequel, and "Stolen Lives", book one of the trilogy, I couldn't wait for "Shattered Lives", book two. I was not disappointed. After "Taken Lives", each book starts exactly where the previous one leaves off. These books, although fiction, tell a very real story of children being abducted into child sex trafficking. Mr. Lewis does a superb job of creating and bringing to life all of the characters involved. The relentless determination of the people trying to find these children and stop the "bad guys". The resilience and courage of the boys. And, the revulsion of the sick, twisted minds of the offenders. It is disturbing, an emotional roller coaster, and you will not be able to put any of the books down. The writing and editing is excellent, and the story line is easy to follow from book to book. My only problem now is having to wait for the third book in the trilogy. Hope it is soon.

This author is amazing! He will have you staying up late, chewing your finger nails and hurrying to the next chapter. Very well written! I expected a so-so book and was very surprised! He has well written characters, a well thought out plot. Found myself rooting for George one page and fighting tears the next.

They are well written but the subject is a tragic one that requires a delicate touch. The author does a good job dealing with the material but seems a bit predisposed to violent outcomes for the supporting members of his cast of characters. I confess after reading the prequel and the first two parts of the trilogy that the careful weaving of Navaho traditions into the storyline seems a bit overdone almost as if the writer is trying to make a point about the belief system as well as write novels about child abuse and human trafficking. While the character of George is vital to the trilogy, I find myself wondering why he was included in the first place. A story of courageous law enforcement personnel and the tragedy of human trafficking would have been enough. One thing is apparent this author while claiming to give credit to law enforcement obviously thinks the same law enforcement types are incapable of solving crimes or protecting the children unless they are somehow supernaturally tipped off. While I recognize this may be nothing more than a literary tool the author is using to add interest to his books but it certainly controls the story. However, while I question some things about the books there is no doubt that they portray one of the worst aspects of life in America. This evil does in fact exist and perhaps if people read this if will stir them to action that results in fewer victims falling to the most evil among us.
