Jonestown. The Solar Temple. Heaven's Gate. On August 22, 1990, on a small island off the coast of Maine, the Payson Church of Tomorrow joins the ranks of those infamous cult suicides when 34 members burn to death inside their old chapel. At 10 years old, Payson member Erin Solomon watches helplessly as the church and its congregation are reduced to ash and embers.

More than 20 years later, Erin Solomon is an accomplished investigative journalist when she receives word that she has inherited Payson Isle...and all its ghosts. She returns to Maine to learn the truth behind the tragedy that has haunted her since childhood, aided by the rakish mentor who's stood by her side since she was a teenager; her trusty mutt, Einstein; and a mysterious stranger with his own dark past.

Soon Erin is enmeshed in a decades-old conspiracy rooted in lust, delusion, and betrayal as she fights to unearth the secrets of the Payson Church of Tomorrow - secrets someone will kill to keep buried.

For those who like cliffhangers By Bichon Mom While I don't mind a bit of an unresolved issue in a novel, I do appreciate a satisfying conclusion to the main plot or theme. I didn't get that with All the Blue-Eyed Angels. This book raises a lot of questions. Unfortunately, it doesn't answer them. After reading through the entire book with its emphasis on who started the fire and why, it ended without answering those and with even raising more questions. As I was nearing the end of the book, I thought the author would have quite a job to wrap up the story in the final chapters. I realized when I got to the last page that the author's resolution was for the reader to purchase the next book.I think if the author had labeled this as Part One, I would have skipped it since I prefer novels that can stand alone even if the main character is part of a series. Since there are so many books and so little time to enjoy them, I do appreciate having such facts up front.

The ending (or lack thereof) is severe enough to knock it down 2 whole stars. There are a lot of characters with a lot of issues going on in this book. It is complicated to follow a lot of characters with a lot of changing plots and every chapter flip flops back and forth between the present and the past. I am fine with all of that....I like a book that makes you think. You certainly won't be guessing the ending. Thus the problem. You turn the page expecting the rest of the story and there is none. Not one of 3 different major storyline issues going on in the book is resolved. At all. All you get it "to be continued in book II...the end". Whaaaat?

But this book ended so abruptly with only one or 2 of the many questions answered I actually checked to make sure I was really at the end.Based on what I have read so far I am not sure I want to continue reading any further offerings in the series. I would hate to get through the next book and STILL not know what the heck was going on. I enjoyed the character Diggs, but I don't know if Erin was likeable enough for me to invest any more time in her story. I kind of liked her self centered mom more than her. At least Kat wasn't so needy. It was in interesting premise, the cult angle was great and could have been done more indepth. Overall the characters and lack of answers made it less than enjoyable though.
