About the Author
JACK EVERETT is the co-author of The Diamond Seekers and Damaged Goods for Barking Rain Press, along with David Coles. Jack Everett has been a lover of historical novels since childhood when an uncle loaned him a copy of Frank Yerby’s The Foxes of Harrow. This, coupled with a love of Fantasy and Sci/Fi, have shaped today’s writer. Jack has been a Youth Leader, a Training Adviser and a Royal Air Force Dog Instructor in his time and counts among his hobbies: wood turning, cue making, painting landscapes and writing, with writing being more of a passion. He has written for magazines and co-written several novels with David Coles including a WWII story, thrillers and a tribute story celebrating the author Jack Vance. DAVID COLES is the co-author of The Diamond Seekers and Damaged Goods for Barking Rain Press, along with Jack Everett. David Coles began writing fantasy and science fiction rather longer ago than he likes to remember. He is also the co-author of a number of fantasy and science fiction stories with Jack Everett, including Fantocine, Merlin’s Kin and the forthcoming medieval mystery, Death and Taxes. A founding member of the international Historical Novel Society, Mr. Coles is proud to have attended workshops run by U.K. writers Terry Pratchett and David Gemmel. Mr. Coles lives with his wife in Yorkshire, United Kingdom, where his only pet is a laptop. In order to support his writing habit, he has been forced into menial day-jobs: designing and writing computer software ranging from industrial control to web-site feeds for U.K. companies and banks and even lecturing at Further Education Colleges. Another masterful story By Catarina Set in Yorkshire, England, Damage Limitations begins in the caverns where Robert Cleghorn disappeared in the previous book, Damaged Goods. A group of cave explorers find what they at first believe is a dead man, but who is barely clinging to life. It is almost certainly the infamous Mr. Cleghorn, although his face has been severely injured and he remains in a coma.Cleghorn’s sister Connie arrives from Florida to claim his few possessions, and a mutual attraction develops between her and Detective Inspector Stewart White. White's father has just come to his son's house in Leeds for an indefinite stay, making opportunities for romance for the Inspector more difficult.The narration alternates between Inspector White's first person account, and the third person story of two separate criminals whom White is investigating. Leroy Richards has just escaped from prison and is back to his old illegal games for making a killing. He hooks up with Jasminder Singh, known as Asmin, who has the physical strength and the intelligence to make an ideal partner, or so Richards thinks.At the same time, White is heading up an investigation into several murders, one of a policeman, in which the victim was found in a room locked on both inside and outside with no obvious means of the killer's exit. Analysis of blood found at one of the scenes points to Billy Jarvis, an orphan who was supposed to have died twenty years before.Jack Everett and David Coles have once again do a masterful job intertwining these two stories, while keeping Inspector White on the trail of the murderer with the locked rooms, and an escaped prisoner who wants to find him. The characters are complex and as real as your next door neighbor, making this a thoroughly enjoyable suspense novel. Everett and Coles promise one additional novel, making this a trilogy. I wish there would be more.

By Amazon Customer With Damage Limitation, Jack Everett and David Coles once again present us with an intriguing story, expertly weaving the bad guys' and the good guys' plotlines. This book is expertly elaborated, has an excellent flow, focuses on the stories of DI Stewart White, Leroy Richards and another person, disclosing more and more information about its protagonists and their interactions on the way. Jack Everett and David Coles do not describe their characters' looks in too much detail, their personalities are more important - you can imagine them pretty well. The characters are believable; in case of the bad guys, this is rather chilling. I was a close observer, following the protagonists and the events, even sharing their feelings. I could easily envision the characters and locations. I had a very good time reading Damage Limitation. It is a fast and thrilling read. This second book in the DI White Mysteries series is as convincing and thrilling as the first one. DI Stewart White is an awesome character, portrayed three-dimensional.A brilliant book to read again. Highly recommended.[The story is narrated in first person - DI White and/or third person in scenes without him.

By You can call me Lynn This novel is a murder mystery and picks up a little bit after the first in the series ends. Although it can be read independently, I highly recommend reading Damaged Goods… as well, so that you become familiar with the characters and situations.In this story DI White has several events going on at once, a couple dealing with past nemeses. Concurrently he deals with murders that seem unsolvable. Will DI White live up to his middle name or not? Find out as you read to the end.I loved seeing the different viewpoints of the villains versus those who are trying to apprehend them. I also love the plot twists and turns.Warning: This book is recommended for Mature Adults due to violence, crime scenes, adult language, and sexual situations.Disclaimer: I received an advanced readers’ copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
