The year is 2028. Technology has leaped beyond anyone's expectations. There's a new world order with enemies as highly advanced as the reigning super powers. Golf is now the number one spectator sport world wide, overtaking soccer, and Iran is about to host the final Major event of the newly created World Golf Tour. The CIA suspects terrorist involvement and creates a top secret plan to infiltrate the Tour with one of their own—Peter Craft, a young professional of tremendous ability, aided in this assignment by Top Secret "Smartball" technology. The Tour progresses and tension builds, as a colorful international cast of suspicious characters play match after match, heading to ground zero in Tehran, little realizing that the psychopathic terrorist Asadi has intricate plans to unleash a weapon of mass destruction at the final event. Astonished by the ingenious deception, Asadi is certain that Allah had chosen the game of golf—a game surely created by Satan himself—to deliver his enemies to slaughter.

By Grady Harp New author Dennis Broderick unite his sports passion with his new drive to create the written word: he is an amateur golfer having had a successful career as an electrical engineer including Executive Vice President of a systems engineering consulting company. Originally form New York and educated in Massachusetts he now steps onto the green and finds success in combining his love of golf with his knowledge of intrigue, espionage and the current state of affairs in this country's relationship with the ongoing Middle Eastern crises. The temptation to allow Dennis' passion for golf and the game and sport to overshadow that flow of the novel has been avoided. This is not a novel for golfers only, though there is enough about the sport and terminology to challenge even the most sophisticated of aficionados. The author uses golf as the trigger to launch a very fine intrigue. His writing style is straightforward and comfortable and even in his prologue he merely touches on thoughts that will drive the story. `Worried about her friend's emotional state, Catherine hoped that Amanda could put the death of the boy's father behind for the sake of the child. At that moment, staring through the window as if looking into the future, Catherine Walker made a silent declaration that she would not rest until every last one of them was dead. "Sir, it's time to go," Catherine whispered to Amanda's father, trying to not wake mother and baby. In twenty minutes, Bill Craft was scheduled to give a critical intelligence briefing to the United States Central Command. She knew there was only one thing important enough for him to entrust his family's well being to another... killing al-Qaeda in the mountains of Afghanistan.' Dennis provides a cast of characters before venturing into this at times confusing tale and that is always a sign of concern for an author's readers - a reference point to keep the events and characters aligned. The plot opens in the year 2028. It is obvious that the author has the skills necessary to hold attention despite its overly long length. Golfers will love the idea of the rise of the game's importance, but non-golfers will be just as able to become involved in a solid intrigue/thriller. Grady Harp, April 15

Staughton Before I even started this novel, I came into it imagining something wildly far-fetched and improbable. I expected plot holes that I could drive a truck through and cliche moments from every other thriller or suspense novel. This had nothing to do with previous knowledge of the author, but rather the premise....it seemed ludicrous! However, I was pleasantly surprised when I was not only intrigued and engaged by Peter Craft and the complex, well executed plot, but I eventually fell into that state of normalcy where you accept the world an author has developed. The tech details and the future advances showed a nearly prophetic vision of the author, while the character structures and development as the story progressed was nothing short of remarkable. I found myself caring about golf, rooting for the heroes, and following every story line eagerly. I usually have the right first impression of a book, and while I was initially going to read this book for a bit of a laugh, I ended up finishing it quite seriously, and much faster than I expected. It was exciting, suspenseful, amusing, satiric, creative, and most of all, humanizing. It ranged from a solemn comment on modern society to a screwball satire that bordered on Dr. Who-like gadgets. Quite simply, it's a great summer read, whether you love golf or not - you'll have fun along the way.

By Veritas Vincit This can only be described as a tongue-in-cheek thriller with an almost comedic premise that becomes brutally serious as we move forward into the novel. Clearly a lover of golf, Broderick never takes himself too seriously, but also doesn't compromise out investment in the characters or the events as they play out. In terms of futuristic novels, this wasn't sci-fi or post-apocalyptic (unless you call a world where golf is the top sport a living hell...), but there was enough creative world-building to engage me from the very beginning. Also, adding in the terrorist element and the Iranian plot line made this seem timely and insightful, perhaps even satirizing certain elements of modern culture and the ridiculousness of both our passions and our problems as a species. I think the deft pen of Broderick stumbled a few times, namely in dragging plot points and a bit too much focus on things that he found himself particularly good at (i.e. writing about golf). I understand that golf is very much the center of this plot, but for readers looking for an interesting read that aren't fascinated by the sport, there were a few sections where the mind might wander. Overall, an excellent and amusing showing that leaves you thinking out loud for a while...
