2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. 5 stars By Ath In this compassionate and fearless novel, the author of 22:10—Crooked Chain of Ghosts skillfully explores the human condition when faced with choices that determine happiness or grief, survival or destruction. Taking as a theme the protagonist’s attempt to uncover a crime against humanity, he writes of family, marriage, socioeconomic change, extortion, coercion, and human interconnectedness. Implicit in the story is the dark struggle between present and past and the complexity of human nature, and the action mounts to a climax which is at once fantastic and terrible. The plot and characters are skillfully crafted and the authentic detail is marvellous.
