It's the story of a Texas Ranger (the storied law-enforcement group not the baseball team) named Scott Durham, and the mystery surrounding a body found in Palo Duro Canyon. There are several fun characters and a budding romance. The story holds together very well and clearly Mrs. Grady knows (and loves) the Texas plains a great deal. The recipe for a decent murder-mystery is to leave the reader (you and me) guessing until the end, and in this task the author has succeeded in spades. I managed to read the book over two days and through it I thought I had figured out the "who" of "who done it" three times before the big reveal. Nothing like being surprised by a twist that you never saw coming. I look forward to more stories from Mrs. Grady!
