Edna Davies is angry and worried. “Innocent until proven guilty” is the way our justice system works, but apparently not the way people react. Rose Beck was questioned repeatedly after the death of her husband, but she was never arrested, never charged. When Edna’s nine-year-old granddaughter meets and befriends Rose’s daughter, Edna must examine her own feelings. By ignoring the rumors, she may be endangering her family. If she were to shun the woman for no cause, she’d be going against her every instinct. A second death propels Edna into action as she is forced to seek the truth or face the consequences.

Murder in Snowy Rhode Island By nancydrew123 Suzanne Young takes readers back to Rhode Island in snowy February in her fifth book in the Edna Davies mystery series. While her husband Albert enjoys a fishing trip in Florida Edna finds herself solving three mysteries. Some of our favorite characters are back. Edna's neighbor Mary is dealing with a mystery of her own. She thinks she hears ghosts in her attic and while solving her mystery she treats us to a little bit of Rhode Island history. In this story we get to know Edna's daughter-in-law Irene and Edna's granddaughter, Amanda when Edna tries to solve a two year old murder. Starling, Edna's daughter continues to date policeman Charlie and Peppa and Tuck, Edna's friends get in on the act when another body turns up in the snow. The mystery aspects of the story were well plotted and executed. There are plenty of suspects and a few red herrings that will keep you guessing. There are a few spooky moments which are always fun. Edna has a perspective that is very unique and her deductive reasoning is always fun to follow. You'll learn about poisonous plants and interesting Rhode Island history. This book will appeal not only to the cozy fan but also garden enthusiasts and readers who are just looking for a good whodunit. Another great book, by this talented author. I can't wait for the next Edna Davies book!

Not one, but three, puzzles for Edna to solve this time By Mystery Gal Once again Edna Davies welcomes us into her large circle of family and friends, this time in the middle of a snowy Rhode Island February. It isn't long before Edna is working diligently to untangle several puzzling situations, one of which involving a suspicious death that has remained unsolved for years. Murder allegations, never proved or disproved, against the mother of one of Edna's granddaughter's school pals, threaten to derail their budding friendship. Meanwhile, Edna's neighbor is distraught over nightly, ghostlike thumpings in the top floor of her house. And when another good friend is arrested for vehicular homicide ... well, things really get interesting. It's Edna to the rescue as she applies her considerable botanical knowledge and usual good sense to the mysteries surrounding her. We are invited to come along and bask in the cozy ambience of Edna's fireplace, the neighborhood cat-and-dog menagerie, and comfort food recipes as we enjoy this satisfying caper. True to form, Edna has all the loose ends snugly tied up before her affable, but clueless, husband Albert returns from a Florida fishing trip. Great read.

Case-cracking with native wits by a lady next door By Amazon Customer Change can occur in a life at any time, and amateur detective Edna Davies is proof. To paraphrase Shakespeare, some are born to change, some achieve change, and some have change thrust upon them. This describes Edna, a “woman of a certain age” with a completely normal life style, again drawn from her daily interests of gardening, family, art and friends to investigate what might be a crime. In this fifth cozy mystery from author Suzanne Young, “Murder by Arrangement,” Edna faces a puzzle, a tangled web of relationships complete with mysterious deaths and weird doings, that may threaten her granddaughter. How can Edna refuse? Pulled first toward one possible solution, then to another, Edna follows lead after lead to solve a two-year-old murder and a contemporary one, help free a friend from suspicion, and safeguard two little girls. In between preparing delicious recipes, some of which are included. Whhff! What a woman! Readers will cheer for a lady who could be your neighbor using her native wits rather than fancy high-tech or violent methods, to crack cases.
