Review Murder in Murloo (Dusty Kent Mysteries Book 1) by Brigid George was a delightful read... It was also one of those books that makes you turn the pages, wanting to know what is going to happen next and I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down. I can only describe the story as enthralling and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one.Anne-Marie Reynolds, Readers' Favorite: Book Reviews and Award Contest
About the Author Brigid George grew up in a small Australian town called Orbost in the state of Victoria. She spent her childhood chasing snakes and lizards down hollow logs, playing Hansel and Gretel in the bush with her brothers, climbing trees, searching the local rubbish tip for books to read and generally behaving like a feral child. To avoid her boisterous brothers she often escaped into the hayshed with a book. Hours and hours of reading from an early age trained her for life as a writer. In primary school her teachers called her ‘the one with the Enid Blyton touch’. Her love of reading murder mysteries as an adult has now evolved into a love of writing them. As a teenager she had short stories published in one of Australia’s national magazines, New Idea. Since then she has won several awards for her stories which have also been published in anthologies. Brigid still lives in the state of Victoria but is now in the capital city of Melbourne where her life is fertile with friends. Brigid George is the pseudonym of JB Rowley - author of Whisper My Secret, Mother of Ten and the children’s series Trapped in Gondwana. Why Brigid George? Brigid because that was what JB’s father called her. George because that was his first name.

By Brenda Telford Sean O’Kelly had only been in Australia for the past three months, out from Ireland, and after working in Sydney for some of that time, decided to travel south into Victoria. The small town of Murloo took his eye and as he relaxed over a cappuccino, he read the local paper, the Claigan Clarion which was published in Claigan, a scant ten kilometres from Murloo. His browsing took him to the story of a young woman, Gabrielle Peters, who had been murdered right here in the town twelve months previously, and her murderer had never been found. His introduction to a startling redhead by the name of Dusty Kent was set to change the course of his life; Dusty was an investigative journalist and bestselling author who had been requested by Gabby’s parents to write a book about Gabby’s life, and in so doing, hopefully unearth her killer. Irene and Hans, and Gabby’s sister Lisa were still deeply grieving, and desperately hoped Dusty could help them – after all, she had done it before. When Dusty hired Sean as her assistant – she was going to utilise his IT skills – Sean was very happy to have a job, and with the delectable Dusty as his boss, he felt he couldn’t go wrong. As Dusty began her investigation, she started by questioning everyone who had been close to Gabby – Heath, Gabby’s fiancé; Lisa, her sister; Bec, her best friend; and many others. But it was at the BBQ which Irene and Hans held to introduce Dusty and Sean to everyone, asking them to help out in every way they could which made Dusty realize there were those who had secrets to hide. Would she be able to find Gabby’s killer when the police hadn’t been able to? And would she be able to block out her own pain to focus on the investigation and subsequent book?A wonderful cosy mystery, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Aussie author Brigid George, with her debut novel, has a winner in my opinion. I’ll definitely be watching out for more from this author. Highly recommended.

This is beautiful stretch of landscape with wetlands, estuaries, surf beaches and not too far inland - tall eucalypt forests. This is one of my favourite places in the world, so I was on the hook from the beginning. Against this background, in a small town peopled with all kinds of Australian characters, the initial murder takes place. I enjoy the occasional mystery and this one had me on my toes. The clever jumps between chapters made it hard to put down, and I worked out just enough of the puzzle to feel clever, however in the end I was outwitted by the twists and turns in the plot. The characters are clearly defined and easy to remember as they weave in and out of the story. The prose is crisp and the narrative well paced. A terrific beginning to a new Australian series; I’m looking forward to the next Dusty Kent mystery.
