Spoiler alert for those who don't actually want to know what the book is about.This one starts with two men in a restaurant in Chicago. One is a Russian the other is the Chief of Staff for US Senator Frank Duncan.Both are murdered in that restaurant. They were both shot in the head. The murderers then turned around and walked out of the restaurant.Det Jaqueline, "Jack" Daniels, Chicago PD and her partner Herb are assigned the case.Daniels is wondering why a Russian, who they find out is a Russian mobster, is in the restaurant speaking with a man who's the COS for an American Senator??Jack decides to call Derek Stillwater. Stillwater is a man she worked with in Chicago a few years ago.Stillwater works for Homeland Security and is an expert in terrorist use of biological or chemical weapons . Stillwater hold PhD's in biochemistry and microbiology. He's also ex special forces. Derek Stillwater is highly intelligent and a man anyone would want on team. Jack is glad he decides to lend a hand.Derek tells Jack he's on loan to the State Department and his boss is the Secretary of State. Jack isn't surprised because Derek Stillwater is hell on wheels in any situation he may find himself in. He even called the SOS by his first name. Hell. He calls everyone by they're first name whether they like it or not. He could care less.Jack brings Derek up to speed on the murdered men as they have drinks in a bar.Derek then introduces Jack to a man who approaches the table. This man is Austin Davis, a political consultant. Davis is a man in the know in DC.Jack asks for info on Senator Duncan and Davis tells her he's bought and payed for and certainly is not an honest politician. As if such a thing existed. He also tells them that Senator Duncan is working on something to do with tracking credit cards. Credit cards that will have EMV tracking devices in them. This will be a windfall of money for some folks in the electronics field.Jack and Derek then head for the offices of Sasha Sabitov, the brother of the murdered Russian. a man who everyone thinks is a legitimate businessman.Derek and Jack both know Sasha is far from legit from some of what Davis and his partner BB came up with. BB is also ex special forces and a man Stillwater had worked with in the past.So begins another fine read by Terry.This one has Jack, Derek, Sabitov, Senator Duncan, a plan worth millioins, casino's, credit cards, one brother screwing the other, murder, death, a hit on Jack and Derek and Jack and Derek trying to stay alive and figure the whole thing out.Five Stars.
