I enjoyed all of the characters. Thank you for not using crude languages or sexual content. After I finished reading it I felt good for having read it. I will be happy to recommend it to my friends.

Not because of the plot, which was easy and not really all that important to the enjoyment of the book, but because the main character, Trudie, holds her own in situation after situation, despite being patient, longsuffering and empathetic. She doesn't let the abuse she receives, or a past bitter blow, stop her from having a positive attitude about people. Good for her, and good for the author. We need more people like this in our lives.Another thing that surprised and impressed me was the way she held her own with Detective Hottie. I thought, like most of the poor characters that authors like to put in this situation, that she would be a pushover and lose all her spunk (and my respect). Instead, even though she forgives him for a nasty trick he pulls on her, she remains true to herself and he comes around to realizing there's something special about Trudie Eyre. When he apologizes, I believe it. I also liked that the romance angle was subtle and didn't take over the mystery--so many cozies have a problem that way. The author gave us just enough to want more.The only negative I could find in this smart and funny (with a heart) book, was that there were a lot of missing commas, particularly in the dialogue. But it didn't detract from the story in the least. The sign of a good writer. I'm looking forward to her next book because, yes, finding a writer like her is not easy these days and I want to read everything she's written.

The spelling and grammar was nicely edited, very rare for a free book. I enjoyed the story. The mystery was solvable, but still kept me guessing. I certainly recommend this new series.
