WITCHFINDER, by Raymond M Hall

About the Author Raymond M Hall was born in Colchester, Essex. He spent his early years in the village of Mistley, just two miles from the small town of Manningtree. These two locations feature heavily in 'Witchfinder'. Raymond spent time in the Essex Police Force in England before travelling to Australia where he now resides in an old gold mining town in the central tablelands of New South Wales. He admits to being heavily influenced by the fact that Matthew Hopkins, the self appointed 'Witchfinder General' during the reign of Oliver Cromwell, lived in Mistley and captured his first 'witch' in neighbouring Manningtree.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Too much explicit content, not enough story. By Lorna Lay-Flurrie i purchased this book because my husband was brought up around Mistley and MAnningtree and thought it would be entertaining to read a book a bout an area I know well. A review said there were explicit sex scenes but I really did not expect full on, endless descriptions of the sexual act at every opportunity... and there seemed to be many.I'm pretty broad minded but this book needs a health warniing. Sex is fine if it forms part of the plot but there were so many sex scenes that the plot took a poor second place. The author needs to learn that less is more and it pays to develop characters slowly, not give the reader every twist of their sordid history in one go.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A very good read. By Becks A good read with a gripping story line. Enjoyed it, having been to Colchester and Manningtree in England where I learned about the Witchfinder General and his victims in the 1600's. The Author has weaved an interesting mystery thriller using researched facts and well developed characters to tell his story.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. a good read By Mrs Jennifer Laura Cooke Imaginative and well described sex scenes strung together with a credible story line, well developed characters and interesting location descriptions.
