The killer decides to let her live, at least for a while. In this book, Emily and Rick (a former detective), are hunting the Tick-Tock Killer, a serial killer who targets children. The killer is mocking the authorities by telling them where he will dump the next body. This creates a heightened sense of urgency for everyone concerned. Can Emily find and stop him before another child becomes a victim... The fast paced action and plot momentum keep the reader s attention to the very end. Although this book is part of a series, there is an extensive back story that fills the reader in on why and how Emily has chosen to pursue this career. The author has created a strong female protagonist that shows strengths and weaknesses. Her characterization is well developed and the plotting is superior as well. The plot is enthralling and always plausible with Chase only delving into the detail when her narrative demands it, but what really makes this thriller so notable are her characters and Emily Stone makes for a powerful and highly memorable female lead. I did not read books one to four but Dark Pursuit stands alone as a great read. Emily is a detective who works with her friend and love interest, Rick. Emily has quietly solved several crimes and sends the results anonymously to the police for them to capture the bad guys. Emily is now faced with a new case when the serial Tick-Tock killer has kidnapped and killed several young girls. Emily is determined not to let his latest victim, Sara, be harmed. The Tick-Tock killer plays a game of cat and mouse with Emily, Rick and the police by promising to end Sara s life in exactly four days. The chase is dangerous, frightening and scary as it pushes Emily mentally and physically further than she has ever been on any other case. As the hour draws near, the exciting climactic end will leave you holding your breath. Dark Pursuit is a well written thriller that took me into both the detective's and the killer's minds. Jennifer Chase has expertly written a story that portrays a psychological picture of both evil and good by letting us understand what Emily and the Tick-Tock killer are doing and why they are doing it. The climax of the last few chapters kept me glued to my Kindle until I reached the end. If you like thrillers, mysteries, and mind boggling adventure then this is a must-read. About the Author Jennifer Chase is an award-winning author and consulting criminologist. She has authored five crime fiction novels, including the award-winning Emily Stone thriller series along with a screenwriting workbook. Jennifer holds a Bachelor degree in police forensics and a Master's degree in criminology. These academic pursuits developed out of her curiosity about the criminal mind as well as from her own experience with a violent sociopath, providing Jennifer with deep personal investment in every story she tells. A fast-paced thriller with a strong female protagonist By PL "Dark Pursuit" is a thriller about Emily Stone, a vigilante dedicated to catching serial killers. The novel opens with a vehicle pursuit that immediately grabbed my attention, and the momentum of the plot carried my attention to the very end. Although this book is part of a series, there is enough backstory given to you in this book that you needn't read the others to enjoy it. In this book, Emily and her partner and lover, Rick (a former detective), are hunting the Tick-Tock Killer, a serial killer who targets children. The killer has told authorities where the next body dump will be, creating a sense of urgency, which the author relays to the reader perfectly. I felt this sense of anxiety as I read, rooting for Emily as she squares off in a battle of wits with Tick-Tock. Chase writes a strong female protagonist, which is really refreshing in this genre. Recommended for anyone who wants a fast-paced thriller!

What a well-written crime drama and mind-blowing thriller that really had my imagination racing from the very first page. It will definitely take your imagination on quite a wild ride as the author has masterfully engineered so many twists & turns and cliff hanger moments that you simply can’t put the book down. Jennifer Chase obviously has very colorful and creative imagination to be able to write such a story. She is a master at using colorful & descriptive dialogue that really brings the imagery of the scenes to life in your imagination. I am a huge fan of crime fiction and this story is as good, or better than anything else I have read in a very long time. I don’t like to give away story lines as I would hate to ruin a good story for another reader, but trust me, you will absolutely love this story and the writing style of the author. You truly will be completely captivated and fully immersed in this story from page one until its climactic ending! If you like crime thrillers… then this one is a must for you to put on your spring reading list! 5 Big stars!

By The Secret Writer Dark Pursuit’ is a very well written psychological crime thriller that will certainly suck the reader into this particular story right from the very start. This is the fifth book in the author’s ‘Emily Stone’ series, but it can be read alone without having to have read any of the previous titles in the series.This book has been very aptly entitled ‘Dark Pursuit’ and it is quite a dark story that involves both child kidnapping and the murder of children, but the author does handle this sensitive subject matter in a delicate, careful and very professional manner.The main character within this story is Emily Stone, a vigilante detective who covertly hunts down killers with the assistance of her partner. Emily Stone’s main objective, as in the other books within this particular series, is to covertly assist the law enforcement agencies in catching the perpetrator’s of serious crimes in order to help them to be able to close complex serial cases that have possibly remained unsolved and to bring the perpetrators of the crimes to Justice.I do like this author’s writing style as she weaves a strong and very well constructed story. The author masterfully creates a very real atmosphere of intrigue and suspense as the perpetrator is pursued by Emily Stone and her partner within the story of ‘Dark Pursuit’. The author’s characters are very strong, real and believable. The reader will become attached over time to both Emily Stone and her partner and will also experience their emotions and also their very human vulnerabilities, as Emily and her partner face some very difficult and sometimes horrifying situations together.Within this particular story the reader also gains some insight into the reasons as to why Emily Stone has dedicated her life to making sure that the perpetrators of horrific serial crimes are caught and punished by the Law enforcement agencies. It is a glimpse into Emily Stone’s past, which is enlightening for the reader.I really enjoyed this book which I read from beginning to end almost without stopping for a break! Once started it is difficult to put this book down. I am really looking forward to reading further books in the Emily Stone Series as and when they become available.
