About the Author I started exercising over four decades ago as a simple and easy cure for my colds and infections. Though physical exercise was a very casual activity till my late thirties, it started gaining importance in my life during the last two decades. It became so important to me that I chose to leave a secure job with a promising future to safeguard my health and fitness. This book is a firsthand account of what I did, how I failed for years, and how I finally succeeded to be healthy and fit. It also describes my weaknesses and how I managed them. My job as an officer and manager in Indian Bank took me to several places across India for 25 years. I took an early retirement to focus on health and fitness and my agriculture. Though agriculture is my first love, I do not depend on it entirely for my livelihood due to regular failure of monsoons and resultant shortage of water for irrigation in my area. So I have some business activity too. Reading and traveling are two activities I enjoy most. I live in Bengaluru, India, with my wife, Ramadevi, and sons, Shashanka and Shreyas. Daughter, Deepika,and son-in-law, Abhishek, also live in Bengaluru and are expecting their child soon.

By Kalyan M Golla Author describes fitness strategies based on his life experiences over a period of 4 decades, which makes it not only interesting read but gives a detailed analysis of what could work and what not based on his experiences which in most cases could be applied to oneself. Unlike health related articles which are shared over Social media or the ones we find JIT based on our search criteria over a symptom, reading such books could give you a comprehensive outlook of the various aspects of healthy living ranging from food we eat, stress controls, fitness routines, life styles..... Most importantly it gives you a good idea of what not to be tried or what wont work in your path to heathy life style The book doesn’t give you false hope of making you believe there are easy ways to know what is the right amount of food intake or what are right ingredients one should have in their meal, but gives a methodical perspective of why some people end up eating more and why some less and still don’t feel hungry which you can try to weigh in with your body type to decide what works for you.What works for some may not work for others because of the varying factors like race, age, weight, life style etc. though this book can't set your health routine for the long run, but this should give you an idea of what can be avoided and what need not be tried. The author very well comprehends over eating or overdoing your exercises. One of his experiences which everyone would agree is his realization of eating food very fast would make him eat a lot more than required and when repeated attempts of eating less failed, he tried eating bulk vegetables and drastically cutting down on all the other essentials which further made him sick and then finally realized that eating the right amount of everything is the right way.The author gives several reasons why someone needs to be healthy and one of the reason which I like the best is about how being healthy wouldn’t let you depend on your kids when you are old (definitely not insulting any elders) which is very subtly put, this will make you think harder on your health, definitely motivational.
