About the Author Marissa's story of Anna began with a dream about being kidnapped with Adam Savage from Mythbusters (Yes, really). Over the next year and a half, it morphed into the story that is now known as "The Life of Anna." She has several other stories in progress, one of which is based on her kidnapped dream. When she's not writing or editing, Marissa is taking care of two young boys, training to be an astronaut, running her household, wrestling with gorillas, playing around on Facebook, promoting whirled peas, and busting her tush for her accounting degree. Can't get enough of this series By T London I loved this story and I am dying for the final book in the series, but this one felt like the much-needed transitional part of Anna’s life. While I wasn’t captivated and glued to each and every page, the ending in book four had me more torn up than any of the others in this series. So go in knowing that you won’t turn the first page and be thinking life is going to go on without me while I read this book, instead absorb this, and be grateful for the break in the drama and then buckle up for the cliff hanger.Alex has been gone for two years and during this time Devin has kept Anna drugged and out of touch with reality. Devin has continued his ceremonial parade to take over the country, maybe even the world according to him, by using her power. There is a complicated system that he has developed that allows him to drain her of her strength, use that power for his agenda and then she is refilled by someone else. I will let you see how that works when you read the book, but by keeping her at his mercy and in complete submission to him, there is nothing to stop him.At one point in the story Anna is left alone, with only Devin to please. He had run Alex’s brother and father off, her friends had either moved or married and went on with their life. The story started to shift when the Russian dancer came to the company. She fought against his attention because he is related to the reason Alex is gone. Later she learns that Devin arranged for this new relationship to form between them, meaning he still had control over her life and who she associated with. By now I was just beginning to think we were going to have nothing but Devin in control, her being used for sex and the ceremonies continuing till finally she would be allowed to die, but Marissa started making the shift in the story at this point.Strange conversations began to be had among people, events and actions that people don’t fully understand but we can see a plan brewing that will hopefully free Anna from Devin’s power. I found myself having to stop reading at a few points to control the nerves I was feeling and sort out my wild thoughts as to what was going to happen? At one point I even wondered if Alex would make a surprise appearance even though he was dead. This is how insane this story has made me.We find heroes in places we never expected and the cliff hanger in this book is by far the most intense I have read in this series. I have always been sad when a book in this series is over and I’d want the next book right away, but this one had me contemplating begging the author for a hint as to what happens next. Wild, this ending was wild and so many answers to the questions I had were found, BUT along with those answers came a host of new questions that I have to wait for in book five.You must read each book in order or you will never be able to fully appreciate this story. As excited as I am for the last book to come out, there is also a sadness that Anna’s story will be over once and for all and I am not sure I am ready to let her go. Go grab your copies of this series now and be prepared for a dark and evil ride into the life of Devin, Anna and Alex. It is not for the faint of heart, but if you love the dark mind twisting books, you will treasure this series.
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Best of the Series so far!! By Heather Briney Ok now that I've had time to process everything that went on in this book I can now write my review! This book is by far one of the darkest in the series! I didn't think it was even possible to hate Devin any more than I already had but guess what, I hate him even more!!! Thank god there isn't an actual face to go with his name (thank you Marissa for not doing a cover with his face) or I swear I would hunt that person down!! Were still left wondering about poor Alex..... I'm secretly praying that he is alive and Marissa is just making us wait for him to return. If he doesn't return I have no clue what will happen to poor Anna.... I will say please don't read this book if you haven't read the first 3. You will be lost! Also this story isn't for everyone. There are no hearts and flowers in the first 4 books, but Marissa promises us a HEA in book 5! She better deliver or she will need to be in author protection program! I have never read a series that had me on pins and needles the entire time.

Was hard to read, disturbing, heartbreaking, sad but also hopeful.Devin, never HATED a character more then this sick twisted freaking pig!!! I want him to be tortured, ripped to shreds, raped, humiliated, cut up and take a bullet to the head!!!! Ughhh, then repeat over and overThis is an amazing series
