It was worth it and now I will read book three. Book one was a dark psychological thriller that kept me hooked until the end, but then let me down with many unanswered questions. I didn't realize (based on reviews I read) that these answers were forthcoming in book two. This book follows on with the storyline from book one, but has a far different tone - more mystery thriller. I enjoyed following the tormented life of a marginal player from book one - but the main character here. Although this book is complete on its own, it is better to have read book one first. This story closes the loops just fine and I don't feel the need for book three as there is nothing left to really answer. But because they are such well writing suspense books, I will move on to the next.
