You may notice me, but you will never know me. I prefer it that way. I am the daughter of a monster. Born from blood and lies. Dead before I have truly lived. But Elian tells me that I'm different. He tells me that I'm beautiful. That I'm an enigma wrapped in irresistibly complicated skin. Elian says that he loves me. These words terrify me. I can't trust love. Or hope. Or truth. Because I fear the beast inside. It threatens to drown Elian and his sweet, unconditional love. It's a beast that will destroy everything. **Reader Warning** There is NO warning. I won't tell you if there's a HEA, a cliffhanger, or a love triangle. Just read it and find out for yourself but please don't post spoilers. The fun of a story is figuring it all out! *Note- this is a psychological thriller and nothing like my previous books!**

I won't tell you if there's a HEA, a cliffhanger, or a love triangle. Just read it and find out for yourself but please don't post spoilers. The fun of a story is figuring it all out!^^^^^ That right there is why I dropped everything and dug into this one. I’m not one for not knowing about cliffhangers, but I did not care. Walters words had me saying to myself what the hell did she write? I NEEDED to read this one now no matter the outcome. She has definitely gone outside of her box with this one. It is definitely not her norm. It is SO much more!!!!I went into this one simply by reading the blurb, knowing nothing else about this little gem. Wait this is not a little gem, this is a total Mind F**** for sure.Walters has asked for no spoilers and I have to agree with her. You need to go into this one simply by reading the blurb and no spoilers at all.Now what can I say without spoiling this one for you? Let’s see what I can come up with.Walters has given us a story unlike anything else she has ever given us. You will be sitting there going WTF is going on more than once throughout this story. The characters within this story will have your heart aching for them and your mind going what in the H*LL is going on.The contradictions within this story had even me stopping and going wait a minute what, huh, in the end Walters weaves them together so perfectly, that she left me intrigued and wanting more.I will say that some parts, although I figured them out pretty early on I was still satisfied with the way that Walters brings everything together in the end. I found her words truly fascinating and I was wanting more and more.Walters gives us one amazing psychological thriller, I will say if they are your thing then this is definitely for you.I enjoyed this dark, twisted, roller coaster ride of emotions, I dare you to jump on and try it yourself."The truth is the ugly side no one wants to see."AND that is all I got for you. I know vague not much info but hey what did you expect with a no spoilers review from me.

They didn't say much about the book itself because that would give away the twists and turns and surprises of the book. Because of this, I was really excited to read this book thinking I was going to be on the edge of my seat the entire time. Nope! Did not happen. In fact the only reason I kept reading till the end was to try and prove myself wrong. I kept thinking, nope you did not figure it out at 50%. But I did. So disappointed. I will not spoil it for you if you want to read it. But I will say this-doingthisinabook does not make it any better. It makes it better.Confusedyet? Not confused?Exactly! Welcome to the writing style of the book. I understand the contradicting part of the book but add thattothisand I want to pull my hair out. No thank you.

It was a lot of what-the-fuck-ery with mind magic, and pure darkness. It was twisted. It was different. It was frightening. It was flawed. It was a lot of things. And I’m not even sure of a star rating because…because. See, even my thoughts are jumbled. Even I’m confused, torn up, twisted in my thinking of this book.I really can’t say much without giving stuff away because this is a purely read-to-experience sort of book. I know a lot of people are outraged about it and a lot of people rave about it. And I don’t think it’s one that there’s a middle ground. You either love it or hate it. I understand where the story was coming from–where it was trying to go–but there was no resolution in my mind. Now, I don’t need an ending that’s all tied up in a bow and looking pretty, no I don’t need that. What I mean is that there’s no right or wrong, no justice, no finality. This book is a “this is what it is,” sort of book. You have to take it at face value because it cannot lead anywhere else.“‘Happiness is deceptive. Joy is cruel. In the end all you have is selfishness. And pain. It’s okay to want the things people say you shouldn’t have. To take without asking. If it fills that hole in your heart, it can’t be all bad.'”The webs of this story were weaved intricately, skeptically, and falsely. You’ll read the story and be unsure of things because the narrator, Layna, is not giving you anything. She’ll give little snippets and then take them away. So you spend the entire book wondering, hoping, wishing and you may or may not be right. She’s a dark, tainted woman who grew up with a dad who was a serial killer, she’s of his blood, and he takes her under his wing. It’s sick and convoluted, and believable. You can see why Layna would be worried about who she is or what she’s going to be. Elian snags her attention and vice versa. Two torn souls reaching to each other.“‘You have to learn to let go. Not of the things that tear you down. But the things that keep you together. That is what you should fear, Lay. The sanity. It’s where we lose everything.'”I will say that the story is one of a kind. I loved the entire premise of it, a female struggling with such a dark personal want because woman aren’t usually shown as being of that nature in books. I loved that both characters suffered with internal and mental struggles. But I wanted something different from it. I think it’s a book that will keep you thinking even after it’s done, that you’ll go back over in your head and try to see things differently from earlier in the book. I think you’ll want to try to morph things in your mind and make them be what you want. I think it’s a book that provokes thought, good or bad. I haven’t read anything before by Ms. Walters, and I know this is a genre that she has never written before, so if you’re wanting to read this book, I saw to you that you should make sure a psychological thriller is for you. There is no bow-making in the end. It’s not a happy, pretty story that you can fluff and make pretty. But mostly, I advise you to read it. I think whether you like it or not, it’ll give you food for thought. It’ll make you take something from it.**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**(Since Amazon has to have a star rating, I'm hedging between 2 and 3 stars)
