She knows what happens when you die
Nola Lantry is a tracist: she can sense the particles of energy that are released when the human body expires. It’s a somewhat gruesome ability, and one of questionable value, but Nola tries her best to use it to bring a little more meaning and excitement to her otherwise drab life in upstate New York. She has assisted the Redfort Police Department on missing persons cases, and while most of the cops have little respect for her work, Nola is determined to prove her worth.
The chance to do just that comes when the richest man in town, Culver Bryant, disappears.
Suddenly Nola finds herself in the middle of a case that is both baffling and increasingly dangerous, the danger appearing in the form of death threats as well as the missing man’s brother, Grayson. Does Grayson Bryant pursue Nola to seduce her or to stop her—and why does Nola feel a connection with him despite her mistrust?

A multi-faceted page turner: snarky, unsettling, and rivetting By DanD Nola Lantri is a slightly-introverted, sarcastic young woman with a mind-numbing job at the local courthouse. It suits her; the companionship of others sometimes makes her feel self-conscious about her own life. Which is made even more complicated by the fact that Nola is a tracist: she can sense the energy that leaves the body when a person dies. She can't tell you how or with what or why a person died, just where. It's a limited skillset, but for those who have the need--like Jack Dalton, Detective Division Commander of the Redford City Police Department--it's invaluable. Dalton has consulted Nola on a various cases, but none so high-profile as this: Culver Bryant, wealthy real estate developer, gone missing. He's left behind a frosty wife, a hyperactive girlfriend, a slick business partner, and a mysterious half-brother who has a few secrets he seems to be all-too-eager to share. One or all of these individuals is complicit in Culver's disappearance...and when mysterious packages start showing up on Nola' doorstep, she's about to find herself in well over her head, with dark discoveries just around the corner.Letitia L. Moffitt's TRACE is splendid mixture of crime, supernatural chills, romance, and mystery. But it's also a character study--a young woman struggling to find her identity and place in a society she doesn't feel a part of, dealing with a gift very few others have. The novel sets a quick pace, while simultaneously taking you deep into Nola's psyche; and yet, it doesn't reveal everything about its heroine, setting the reader up for future installments. TRACE makes for a nice, quick-paced summer read...but it's also much more than that: an insightful character study set against a romantic thriller background, with a supernatural edge that gives it an extra bite.

By Tom_burton This thriller mystery delivers poignant moments, novel insights into human nature, and best of all a hook that keeps you turning the pages. The plot kept me surprised as the main character learns more about her own abilities and herself. I enjoyed the premise of the Trace, and the non-supernatural treatment of the police psychic. Trace delivers this all with fun dry and wry humor, interesting characters, and a few twist. The real test: it definitely left me wanting more.

From the start, the characters are believable, interesting, and very human. The story catches your interest and makes it hard to put the book down. It has interesting twists that will keep you on your toes.
