27 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Creative, relaxing and fun coloring book! By Alan Had been thinking for a while about getting an adult coloring book. I purchased this one for just under $4.00. For the price I thought it would be a good way to get started. It is a book of Mandala designs, which according to Wikipedia means "circle" in Sanskrit and states that they are spiritual and ritual symbols in Indian religions, representing the universe. I was not sure I would enjoy coloring these designs. However, I think this is a very good book to start with because the detail is small and medium. In other words there is plenty of detail to keep an adult interested and to use a lot of creativity at the same time, but not too much that it is too difficult or tedious. I finished the one below in about 1.5 hours. It took me another 30 minutes to paint it, since I was using water color pencils. I like the water color pencils because it gives creative options: one can use just the colored pencil, or go back over picture with a paint brush and create a watercolor look, which really brightened the colors and filed in the white space. For $4 plus the cost of the pencils this is a great little book which will give me about 70 hours of entertainment and relaxation therapy. (I purchased "Stationary Cupboard 24 Water Color Pencils" which come with a brush and a sharpener. I would recommend these pencils)

Gift game = strong; thin drawing utensils only By Izzy Is I freaking love coloring and have found that "the craft of coloring" books are my FAVORITE adult coloring books (please see previous reviews). This is a book chock full of great designs that focus on a center, near-spherical shape in each design (much like the color), This is great because it means you can color the whole design without a design being cut off at the side of the page. I have been coloring for years for stress release as well for a bit of creative inspiration. This is a pretty nice book with cool mandala designs throughout. There are 35 designs inside. I did subtract one star because the paper is kind of thin. I don't just color usually, I use watercolor pencils, inktense pencils that also require an application of water, markers, pens and crayons. I know the paper wouldn't hold up to most of these but will be fine for pencils, pens and crayons. If you have some markers that don't bleed through the paper then you will be good on those too. Each mandala is blank on the opposite side so you aren't coloring though another design, however and that's a nice addition. I like that the creator of the book has put a hashtag inside so that you can share what you colored on IG and they allow you to photocopy the mandalas so that you can color them in different colors and play around to see which ones you like best! I did receive this review at a discounted price in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, which is exactly what I always give. i would, WOULD recommend this book to anyone that likes to color but most especially adults! There are a lot of relaxing hours tucked away between the pages, just waiting for me!
