Domenick Usually I stay away from translations because they can be so discontinuous and inconsistent, but not here. The translator, Tina Kover, does an excellent job. I felt like I was reading a book written in English, and the style, syntax, and structure was continuous throughout.As far as the story is concerned, I think it was sui generis. And it was an attractive serial killer(s) here, interestingly not beyond redemption, and his/their crimes will make you think twice about what you hold sacred. The investigator trying to nab the killer(s) is named Mallock, and he has unique ways of channeling the crimes. He is maddening and endearing at the same time.The investigative techniques are all modern and fascinating to behold. Nothing is hidden from view, except for the lives of those he took away. They are not explored in depth, neither is the person Mallock lost himself; however, the dead do have something to say here.One of the best aspects of the novel is the exploration of other points of view, layers of which add profundity to the experience.
