As far as horror comics go, this one is pretty good and is far more "realistic" than some others I have read. If you didn't already know, this is about serial killers. More specifically a town that seems to breed serial killers. The premise is very interesting and there is still a lot of mystery that drives the story along. In fact, after volume two there seems to be a lot more questions about the story than there were in the first one. Expect this to be a quick read, and when you're finished with volume 2, you will want to read more! The cover image shown on Amazon (the baby with the mask) is different than what I got. Volume 2 has similar cover and spine art as volume 1. The main difference is that volume one had a nice maroon colored spine and volume 2 is blue.

It’s so weird and good with a dash of creepy stuff that makes me check under my bed before I go to sleep at night. This volume continues to follow Finch as he tries to solve why so many serial killers come from Buckaroo and what his friend Carroll was doing there and what happened to him.I think most people would consider this a horror story. And while there are a some creepy parts I feel this is more along the lines of a suspense or thriller story. I’ve seen nothing like it and I think it’s totally original in the way it’s told. I like that Nailbiter (the serial killer) is almost likable at times. I guess that’s how it goes with the most effective serial killers like Ted Bundy being charismatic. The difference on that is I’m a reader. I know he’s a serial killer and I still like him…until he does something gross. For the most part the plot is really engaging and I love the little side stories, like the pregnant woman that wanted her kid to become a serial killer so she’d be known for something, because they add depth to the town even if they don’t particularly add to the story line (as far as I can tell). But in this volume there is a “guest appearance” by comic writer Brian Michael Bendis and it just seemed hokey. I didn’t think it enriched the story or added value to the plot. The art is just as great and creepy as the first one. There are some pretty stunning pages in this volume, including covers, but there was this one spread in particular that I really enjoyed. It has Brian Michael Bendis and Nailbiter in a park swinging. Nailbiter seemed carefree despite the conversation and it just did a lot for the story. Really awesome. The art and the majority of the story are great. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes suspense and are okay with a little gross out factor. (I will never bite my nails again.) The only reason this gets a four out of five stars is because of that cameo appearance.

Have time for your nails to grow back because you will biting them By Benjimen R Parris Since volume one was so fast paced and us readers hardly had no time to be given a breather with all the shock and aw we saw in the first chapter of this incredible new series from Image. Now volume two has the main story be more of a back drop and the readers are given the chance to be shown, Buckaroo, the home of serial killers. The narrative is told beautifully. Still the intense heart pounding suspense, upbeat story telling, and creepy revelations. The art work speaks for itself. No confusioning images and plenty of disturbing portraits. This would be perfect all the way but I felt the main character Edward Charles Warren aka Nailbiter gets to take center stage at all really. Now when he shows his presence. He never over stays his welcome but I felt he doesn't stick around long enough to get the full enjoyment out of his stay. This disappointment is redeemed for the better knowing of the other important players in this sick twisted game. This book is defining the serial killer myth and small town mystery. For creative team Joshua Williamson and Mike Henderson there is a brightly dark future for this series and for us the readers all we can do is prepare for the frighting shock and sickly twisted good time to come.
