About the Author Wendy has a Masters in Social Work and worked in the child welfare field for twelve years before she decided to pursue her dream of writing. Her first two books, Fractured and Mama Said were published in 2011 and 2012. Mama Said was a finalist in the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence Contest. She self-published The Christmas Curse in 2012. Between teaching college classes, trying to get her morbidly obese cat to slim down, and tempering the will of her five-year-old granddaughter, who's determined to become a witch when she turns six so she can fly on her broom to see the Eiffel Tower and put hexes on people—not necessarily in that order—somehow Wendy still manages to fit in writing. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Disappointed the series is over, but sooo glad I was apart of it!!!! By Ashley So I definitely did not like this book, no I absolutely loved it!!! This was the third book in the trilogy and it featured Max, the oldest of the Shaw siblings. I could not put this book down from page one and I got so lost in the book I finished it after only a few hours. Ya, I was totally possessed while reading this and skipped all my morning housework. Oops! I won't give any spoilers away cuz that's just how I roll, but I will say the entire book was suspenseful and keeps you at the edge of your seat. The romance was a little less involved then the other two books but that was okay with me because both Max and Gianni kept everything close to their vests. I really loved hearing Max's story and the guilt he carried, I feel that this book really tied the other two books in because things were sometimes left with me like, no tell me more right now, with the other nooks and by the end of this book everything made total sense. I do have to say I was a little disappointed as I would of loved to heard more of the other Shaw siblings, especially since throughout the first two there was sibling interactions. That being said it was still a great read that I will be recommending to anyone who asks. The ending did kind of throw me because I felt as though, poof it was over and I would have loved to read more of Max and Gianni as a couple. I know this is supposed to be a trilogy series, but I would love it if Wendy would continue on maybe with Jennings himself or others who work with the Alliance. I would also definitely love the Shaw's to be integrated as well. I did receive this book as an ARC but that had no bearing on my review in any way. If anything it was a huge bonus because I got to read it already lol. With a book this good I would of easily paid five bucks. Also, does anyone here see a movie outta this or am I the only one???

Then I turned around and bough a copy.This was a really good book. Suspenseful, loads of action, some mystery and a little romance. The kind of book that you don't want to put down until the end. Then when it ends, you wish it had gone on longer.This is the final story in the trilogy. Max, the oldest, had become an assassin to protect and provide for his siblings, Sabrina and Jake. People from his past had come back seeking revenge. The first attempt on his life caused Max to interact with Gianna, an NYPD police lieutenant.Gianna's brother becomes involved. Max and Gianna have to work together to save her brother and end Max's problem. A strained relationship grows into something more over time and circumstances. No insta love in this book.I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good action adventure with a side of romance. By S. Flanagan Tis is the third book of the trilogy of the Shaw siblings. The story is about Max, the eldest sibling who suffers feelings of guilt for leading his younger siblings into a life of crime in Serbia. Max is an alpha male with quite a few tricks up his sleeve. When he teams up with a NYPD detective out to save her brother from a life of crime, the similarities between his life and hers are startling. Both had to be parental figures at too young an age and both suffer from guilt for the choices they made. The love story is very secondary in this book but it is there nonetheless. I have enjoyed all 3 books and look forward to Wendy Byrnes's next series.
